Let me get this straight.

Your wife is trying to trade in YOUR 4Runner for a car/wagon thing SHE likes better?

I suppose the concept of "I drive what I want, you drive what you want" is confusing to her? Or perhaps she's been "empowered" over time by conditioning you in situations like this to tolerate stunning lack of consideration for opinions other than her own?

Wow. I've got some bad news for you buddy. Until your medical treatments are complete, when you find a testicle and backbone donor, you're done.
 
Yes it does get better gas mileage but it recommends premium fuel. You're the engineer. You can figure out how much difference between premium fuel and gas mileage difference.

After the reliability and great offroad driving fun we have experienced w/ our two Tacoma's my wife decided that she wanted a 4Runner. So now we have an '07 Tacoma DCSB Sport 4x4, a '12 Tacoma DCSB OR 4x4 and a '13 SR5 T4R 4x4. BAMF sliders on order for the T4R, will get a new set of Mickey Thompsons in the next month or two. She wants to wait and see how it does at Big Bend this Thanksgiving before she decides on what she wants to do with the suspension.

I find this whole thing interesting. My wife drives an Acura and it has 125,000 miles with no issues so far. She loves it. Since I got the T4R she wants to drive it more and more. While I was looking at replacing the Accord with a mini-van, she didn't want us to have one so found the T4R. She also would NEVER do anything behind my back like that. Serious trust / respect issue to me, but whatever, it is your marriage not mine. Different people I guess.
 
In my house my wife picks her own vehicle (she has a '12 CRV) and I pick my own vehicle. No arguments what so ever.

Matter of fact my wife is talking me into doing another BMW European Trip when the new M3 comes out in 2014/15. I'm hesitant on doing so!

How long have you been married? Does she work? Do you have kids? Let me say I am sorry this is happening to you. I don't think it's funny.

Sounds like she needs to be reminded of the contractual nature of marriage. Her running out and threatening to trade in your (collective) truck is a breach of the deal, in my mind. Look, I'm married too (11 years), and I am not free of the leash on all things, but my wife would never pull that one on me, and if she did I would be pissed and voice it in ways that would hurt her feelings.

Tell her calmly to wait until you get back into town, so you can make the decision (to keep the 4runner) together. Then see if you can afford 2 cars, get her the wagon, and keep her out of your 4 runner.

If all else fails: Pimp Hand. (That wagon is probably a pretty nice ride BTW)

The engineer in me sat her down.... I tried a Pugh Matrix explaining the pros/cons; used all the analytical tools in my 6Sigma toolbox to no avail....

I need some emotional arguments that work on ladies to help me make the case. Since I'm an engineer I'm probably too emotionally unavailable to connect :lmao: so here I am asking the 4Runner breathren to enlighten me on some key points to make!
