Tint apt. this weekend .... 20 or 35 percent ?

I vote 20% also. My 4runner has 20% and I love it. The only catch is that here in North Carolina window tint is part of auto inspection. Our bullsh*t law says that front windows can be no darker than 32%. So next year before I can get an inspection and get my tag renewed I'll have to find a shop that will throw a blind eye toward the tint. Just something to think about here in NC anyways... You'll love the 20%...

Ya either of the shops I went to didnt have 25 or 30 as a option.
just 20 or 35. Cops in my town wont bother me , besides maybe the ones at the college.
But theres a few surounding town I pass through that have some real pricks!
Still leaning towards the 20% .. looks so nice !

BTW, here's an old shot of my 4Runner, but at least you can get an idea what the tint looks like. Again, that's 20% on all the windows and 35% on the entire windshield. With the windshield tinted, it definitely blends everything together nicely. Granted, tinting the entire windshield is illegal in every state, but I've never had issues with any cop about it.
Just remembered, it's not entirely illegal to do the full windshield...if you have a letter from a doctor permitting you to have the windshield tinted due to light sensitivity issues, then tinting the full windshield is ok. A former co-worker of mine (lady in her late 50s) actually had it done on her '01 Camry to 35% at her doc's request. Said she just had to keep the doc's note in her glove box at all times in case she ever was pulled over for it.

Go 20%. It matches nicely. If you get pulled over, just roll down both front windows before he walks up to you.

I paid just under $200 to do all the windows except the windshield. The price was kinda on the higher end but I like the customer service at this particular shop. I had the rear windows tinted to 20% and the front driver and passenger windows tinted to 35%. I wish I had gone down to 30% or 25% but 35% is the legal limit. 35% is way too light and was kind of a waste of money IMO.
Well I figured I should weigh in here because this is what I do for a living. I should point out I am not an installer, but do commercial window film sales, however I do have quite a bit of knowledge in the subject. To match the rear privacy glass a 20% tint is usually the best match shade wise. Different lines of film will match the color of the privacy glass a little better than others. We are 3M dealers and regularly stock three of their non metalized automotive film. If my memory serves me correct the 3M Color Stable 20 is their best match to our factory glass. Now to clear up items. All window films will block out 99% of UV rays, this does not change with VLT (Visable Light Transmision, aka how much light it lets in). We charge $80 for two fronts, as long as it is not a spectrally selective film, these are films built to block IR rays as well as UV, which gives them dramatic heat rejection without being too dark. These are pricy films, to do a whole 4runner would run about $750 for 3M's Crystaline film. If anyone has any other questions I would be happy to answer them.
Just a little something to think about, you get what you pay for, so that $99-$150 special to tint a whole car is not worth buying. These films will purple, bubble etc, and if they are metalized they could interfere with cell phone, gps and bluetooth signals. It helps to ask questions when getting tint done. All reputable companies should back their work and install films with a lifetime warranty.

I paid 70, my buddie got his done for 60 but I needed a place that did weekend apointments .

I paid $70 at mr.tint in s.windsor CT. The guy did a Sh!ty job theres some small bubbles in the corners.
And he left some minnor scratches on the outside of my door pillars (must be from when he cut the tint )
Very disapointing
Other then that im loving the 20%
