Tironeous “Build” Thread

Will take better pictures soon but too excited to not share now.

I pushed the fender liners way forward. I had to trim the front by where the mud flap was because it was rubbing. Not much, just a little corner on the inside. Now it rubs the body mount at full lock. It’ll be fine on road but not when flexing. BMC is already scheduled.

Also removed front mud flaps and trimmed the rears. I want the rear to cover the hole that’s left when removing the mud flaps.

Bilstein 6112 with 650lb coils

Looks great! Makes my stock wheels look like pizza cutters lol.
 
With the sizing and offset I take it your not running any spacers?

How close are they to the UCAs?

Rig looks great!

-10 offset and nowhere near the UCAs. According to the calculator this offset puts me 0.58” further away than my +15 offset Trail Wheels.

Brake Upgrade

I am starting to think about doing the 5th Gen Brake upgrade (2010-2015) at some point. With the 285s I can definitely tell braking distances have increased. It’s not bad and I’m sure I’ll adjust my driving style, but many have said the brake upgrade is well worth it.

From what I’ve read so far I think I’ll need the below parts. I’ll likely added some extended brake lines while I’m at it. Please correct me if I’m wrong of if there are any other things I need to consider.

FRONT:
- 5th Gen calipers
- 5th Gen rotors
- 5th Gen ceramic pads

REAR:
- 5th Gen calipers
- 4th Gen rotors
- 5th Gen ceramic pads

Looks correct. I upgraded to 5th gens up front with braided lines, but cant really tell much of a difference in braking power.

I think the main benefit of the 5th Gen swap is supposedly the calipers don’t seize as easily

Have you noticed any difference in stopping power? I know the 5th Gen brake calipers freeze left often but I also thought they had larger pistons and thicker rotors. I assumed that would mean more stopping power.

I haven't noticed much. Maybe just a little firmer pedal from the braided lines. I just did the upgrade because my original calipers were starting to rust.
 
When I did my 5th Gen Brake swap I only noticed a stiffer pedal like stated from the others above. But I feel that this was only because of the braided lines. I too had seized calipers and thought what the heck might as well change both fronts.

I kept the 4th gen rear calipers because the 5th gen rears are the same size (correct me if I'm wrong). Mostly just wanted fresh fronts, braided lines, rotors etc. If thats what you're looking for, do it. But not sure if there's a MAJOR difference.
 
My Stealh Custom Series GEN5 wheels don’t have center caps. It’s one of the ways they keep the weight low I guess (under 23bs per wheel). I’m fine with that but had to address the rust on my wheel hubs on the rear.

It came out more matte than I wanted, but it’s definitely an improvement. I may try to find something with more gloss but it’s not a priority.

Looks great! How are you liking the Icon 2" springs? Do they do alright if you add some more weight in the back?
 
New Rear Springs

Switched out rear Icon 2” 52700 for OME 895 2” rear spring. Rear was beginning to sag with added weight of tire carrier and spare tire. Gained 7/8” restoring 3/8” of normal rake. With the Icons I had 1/2” of reverse rake.
