tmcintosh3's Build Thread

So I just ordered a 1.5" body lift from 4Crawler...pictures to come :hungry:

Here is what I think I will do with upgrading my rear;

  • ICON Extended Travel 2.0 VS Series Shocks - to replace my Bilstein 5100s
    ICON 3" Overland Series Rear Coil Springs - to replace my 2" Sway-a-Ways
    Metal Tech 4x4 4Runner rear suspension bump stop drop with Arc Swing Correction - because I have to
    Stainless steel extended brake lines for the rear axle - because I have to

If this does not get me to my desired height (eliminate my massive "anti-rake") of being roughly .5-1" higher in the front, I was thinking of adding a rear coil spacer.
I was only able to find Rancho and Daystar 1.5" or Daystar 2" Rear Coil Spacers

If I were to add a spacer to the above proposed rear end set up, would I need to upgrade my rear swaybar links and upper/lower rear links?

Thanks all!

where in socal are you located? would love to hit EASY trails with you haha. I am a BIG newbie. Never been to the trail at all.

jdotlim in Ventura County. I generally only take it to the dirt when I head up to Big Bear. Don't really hit anything too local.

My swaybar bushings and LED interior lights (plus license plate lights) came in over the weekend, so I figured I would take care of it this AM before work! Pretty easy upgrade.

Out with the old and in with the new!

Just put in a new MF Y-Pipe. A pretty easy swap minus the nuts/bolts being a pain in the ass to remove. Direct fit, except it doesn't come with the welded nuts for the spring bolts...*smh*

Took it for a test drive and you can definitely feel a little more torque. We will see if it improves the MPG in the next couple weeks.

Body Lift and new bumpstops installed! Both of them are such a pain in the @$$!

Now with all this room, do I go with 35s or fit some 37s?

Post your vote with any pros/cons!

looks good.. just noticed you might want to go 37's and if you do then you need to get 9in wide rims. 8.5 is the minimum for 35's and i wish i got 9's too.

i ordered that battery tie down once i saw yours. haha

This gem just showed up in the mail! Once my 35s get mounted, I will get this installed and finally have an accurate speedo! :mod:

@truckhigh - Thanks! Yea, I am just going to go with 35s. If I went 37s, I would have to re-gear to 4.88s and trim a ton. 35s will be plenty for what I want. The method rims are 17x8.5 with 0 offset. I wish they were 17x9, but I think that it should look good. I could always go with 18x9, but I will have to make a decision by this weekend, as the order will be getting placed on Friday! ...Haha! nice. Yea, It isn't an exact fit, but I just used some rubber grommets to make it work.

Wheels and Tires

So this past weekend I purchased some new wheels and tires! I should be picking them up tomorrow or Thursday.

Wheels:
Method Race Wheels MR309 Grid - Titanium 17x8.5
Tires:
BFG A/T KO2 35x12.50/17

On Friday I will be mounting my new front bumper and chopping my body mounts. Then when I get back into town on Sunday/Monday, I will mount the new shoes.

Pics to come shortly. :bravo::bravo::snacker:

Drove up to NorCal and got my bumper mounted this weekend with Troymclure

I cannot thank him enough for his help and give him a :bravo::bravo: on his custom bumper!

Then I took the old :ballchain: on a road trip to Big Sur.

Yesterday, I finally mounted my new Method's and BFG A/T 35s. I haven't had a chance to clean her up from the road trip and take any decent pics yet. More pics to come, but I will tell you that she looks mean and sexy!
