Took longer than I wanted, but not as long as others though. Know what you want, and get really serious about it.

Looking to put only about 3k miles a year on this T4R, I imagine I might go into the ground before "Jack". Our little girls call "him" Jack as we carved our jack-O-lantern that evening...

So much for my run of female names!

Yes, I read your reply to that thread the other day as I was doing some research. I have several CL searches set up within a 4hr drive. Also stalking Facebook marketplace.

Nice. I even had alerts for San Diego and parts of Arizona, 1 to 1.5 hour flights away...

Respond fast to the alerts and you'll be driving one. Best to you!

OP just modded his liftgate struts with the mouse-trap 2x4 bucket mod. Everything counts [emoji1360]

Yes, but be prepared for the grommet to crumble into the plenum; they get hard and brittle after so many years. Order a new grommet too.

I was able to fish out all the pieces of grommet on mine. Another common issue on a 18 year old car.

I had read that in a thread or two (dry/brittle grommet). The previous owner did the valve cover gaskets, but I don't know if he did the PCV valve. I would have...

Maybe I can tell by inspecting the grommet, noting its condition.
 
Ok, this is very much 4Runner-related...

While we have a 3-car garage, and the T4R is the 3rd vehicle, it won't fit as it's too tall, even in stock form. I knew that when I purchased it as even our family car (Equinox) will only fit with the removal of the roof-mount antenna.

I have some decent space on the side of the house though. I cleared out some large limbs this past summer with this in-mind... Some excavating is desirable in order to get it in/out more easily, especially for my wife. Made some nice progress today. There are tons of rocks and even boulders here.

Probably one more day of earth-moving and leveling. Once done, I'll drop some sand and then pavers so it won't be sitting in the mud...

Before next summer I'll build a structure in this space so it is out of the elements... There's room for a trailer too.
 
True that both differentials and and the transfer case use the same lubricant? Looks to be 75w-90 gear oil...

Advisable to replace all (8) gasket washers too? I imagine so. Think I have part #s already... Thanks!
 
Perfect, thank you. I ordered that kit, plus 7 quarts of 75W-90.

I heard that doing the tranny is not as easy, not sure why though. Thanks again!
 
Need some help.

Was putting-in the LED lights for the license plate and the doors auto-locked with my only key inside. The rear hatch door is only partially locked. Whenever I attempt to open it, the alarm goes-off.

Any ideas? Thanks.
