Toyo Open Country A/T II

I know a lot of people like the AT3's. My neighbor has a set on his Durango and I (personally) like the look of the Toyos better. I think they look more aggressive. Post em up when you get em, I'd love to see them on a Runner

And your P rated Toyos do look more aggressive in comparison to the Cooper at3's (in person)? That's good to hear and scores another point for the Toyos for me. Haha - tough decision..

Yeah, those are nice. I do think the P rated Toyos look more aggressive though. Of course, this thread is testament of how hard it is to photograph fine details of something like tires. Even the Xtreme Toyos pictured here, while they look cool, I'm sure they have been photoshopped to add contrast and detail.

Momo has the BFG Rugged Terrains. They are along the lines of the Coopers, OC IIs, and the Falken Rocky Mountains I have. I was actually going to get those but they were on a 4 month backorder for the size I wanted.

And I agree, the P Rated don't have the depth of tread or sidewall accents that LT do, which makes them look a little less aggressive. I've seen the BFGs in both varieties in person, and there is a noticable difference.

Yeah that must be the picture. So does the LT tire have extreme written on it? Or is this just an old concept picture that toyo used?

Here's a quote from someone on a f150 forum who talked to a toyo rep "The picture showed a AT II that was a Xtreme AT II which only comes in a few different sizes. I called a Toyo representative and said I was looking for it in a 18. She said they come in a 35/12.5/18, 325/65/18, 285/75/18, 285/65/18". So the best way to actually figure out what sizes are available as extreme would be to talk to a rep. Thats just what I have found.

Awesome, thanks for the info. That pretty much sums it up. Need a few more mods if I want to get those specific tires but I think I'll be happy with just the plain P rated AT II's when the time comes to upgrade.

Ah - you're right about Momo. Good call. I think I got confused because I was considering those tires for a bit as well.

Before I bought my OC's, I was way more confused than I was before I started shopping. I had done so much research and read so many opinions/reviews that it actually confused me even more than I already was. Then I got to thinking about how long I'll have to live with my choice and it just overwhelmed me, so I went in and talked to my tire guy and he sold me on these OC's. I haven't had them long enough to give a fair assessment, but I really like the look, feel and lack of road noise so far.
I did have to do a bit of fender/lining trimming since I went up a size though, so keep that in mind

not as aggressive as the photoshopped pics shown on the Ford truck above portray...but, a definite improvement in aesthetics over the previous open country at tires. i had a set of these on my tacoma - and they were excellent tires on the road, on forest service roads and on snow/ice covered roads in Idaho..

installing the daystar 2.5/1.5 lift/spacer kit next week. can't wait..

i'll report back on the performance of these tires during and after this winter season.

Thx for posting! Myself... I'm still completely torn on the Cooper Discoverer at3's and these Toyos... Likely getting new tires within the week. I'll probably choose whatever the tire shop recommends or whatever is cheaper.

I found it refreshing that he didn't try to sell me on a more expensive tire like BFG's or Duratracs which made me feel like I was getting an honest opinion.

Yes, they are LT tires. Comparing pictures, and what they look like in real life, the extra tread depth of the LT tires does indeed make a difference in the overall look.

I did a quick photo combo to show the slight differences between P and LT rated tires in these Open Country A/T II's.

You can see that the shoulder tread blocks are taller (look at the mold line that goes all the way around the tire), and the sidewall tread is just a little bit deeper and more aggressive. Not a ton, but some. All pictures aren't created equal either, so I'm sure some pictures will look more aggressive, simply because of the picture setting.

i have the p size and they look a lot more aggressive in real life than that picture. i'm happy with the way they look.
