No thank you!
This work, unfortunately does not go to A mechanics. The folks that seem to do this work either do not know how to do it properly. or do not respect a customer's vehicle enough to do it properly. It makes little difference to me which is the case.
I brought my 4Runner from a well respected dealer in the area. A few months later, that consortium sold out to another. Due for my first tire rotation, I took it back to the new dealer. He promptly dented and scratched all 4 center caps.. How badly can one screw up a tire rotation?? They found a way! Gave this dealer another chance for first oil change. The next day, there's oil all over the driveway and the "skid plate" is soaked. Checked the oil level and it's full. Went back.. he removed the plate, and steamed cleaned along with apologies.
Fool me once, shame on you .. fool me twice, shame on me!
Another tire rotation and fluid check (yeah right!) due. Try a different dealer.
Get home to check the torque on the lugs, another center cap scratched and dented... Open the drivers door, and I'm greeted by a large wad of butter on the plastic sill over the rocker panel. Another new cap on Toyota. I guess it was a convenient place for the "technician" to place his buttered roll while my rig was on the lift. Now, I'm ticked off...
But, something good came of it all .. I have a friend who was an A mechanic at the original dealership where I bought the 4Runner. He knows what he is doing without question .. a great mechanic. When the first dealership changed hands, my mechanic moved to this dealership. The new Service Manager assured me I can have my A mechanic work on my vehicle whenever i come in .. and I know it will happen because we speak on the phone often enough...
