Our Prius v is better at fitting the rear facing infant/toddler seat than my T4R.

I've considered picking up a '14 Tundra Crewmax. WV has some insane $7500 tax credit on flex fuel vehicles, so I could be in a TRD offroad SR5 for very little money all said and done. But, I just bought new tires and I could pick up a trailer for $1000 to do the truck stuff. So, I'll keep my big fella.

I have thought about the same thing too Quintin. Where to haul my bikes to NC though? No lockable storage lol.

So real world - What do your numbers actually show?

80% city, 20% highway: I get 15 mpg. The wife ... 13.

Highway, 70 mph about 16.

Highway, 60-65 about 18.

Towing our 20' camper (GVW 3800 lbs, but it's not a pop-up, so wind counts) 13 mpg @ 60-65 and 10.5 mpg @ 65-70.

We have a bed cap, 200 lbs of rock sliders, and a solid wood storage system in the back (of which I someday hope post pictures, once I finished it in the copious amount of free time I have), so almost 450 lbs of weight over the vehicle dry weight, not counting passengers.

Welcome to the dark side! You will likely not regret the decision. There are some things I miss about the 4R, but all in all I love the Tundra enough to make it worth it.

On 35" Trail Grapplers, 4.5 inches of ARB lift under it, and a Transferflow 46 gallon fuel tank I am averaging about 13 now. I tend to drive with a heavy foot, and with the AZ summer here I spend some time idling. In stock form I was around 16-17mpg, but I put the lift and Duratracs on it almost immediately so I would not miss the mileage. Fuel tank cost me around 1mpg itself which was quite surprising.

I did the same thing but went from a Tacoma to tundra and love it. The gas millage is not great but thank goodness my company pays for the gas in my truck since I use it to work out of instead of a company truck.

I guess I have the best of both worlds. My wife has 13 4 runner and I have 08 tundra so I get to use both. While I like her 4 runner the tundra is by far bigger and is easy to load up duck hunting gear along with a utv trailer and off I go. The 4 runner is perfect for my wife and me. Traveling, around town use etc... At the end of the day I am glad that I have both. Gives me 2 diffrent drivers both have there pros and cons.

My wife says driving my tundra is like parking a tank and she doesn't like it. So when I went in to buy her another vehicle. We went from a camery to 4 runner and she loves it as do I some days. Glad to hear it all worked our for you and tundra truly is a good truck. I coundnt't picture myself having another smaller truck or for that matter a another make and brand. Die hard toyota guy here is all I have every owned and all plan to own.

no worries, at least you stuck with the quality Toyota brand. I did something similar; i went from an FJ Cruiser to my new TR4 SR5. loved that old FJ but also lovin' the new TR4 and ironically i'm getting better fuel economy in the TR4- maybe about 19... whereas the FJ was more like 15 to 17 mpg...
it's all good and just depends on what vehicle meets your needs best...

If for gear, OK, but body wise, its the same thing.

I have both in the garage, back seat in the Crew Max is epic big. Was going to get the 2014 Crew Max except the idiots at Toyota did away with the reclining rear seat feature. F'en tards.

So, its a DAMN good thing I have such a badass vehicle in my Trail Edition!

Long story short, I could not pick it up on Friday morning and I was out of town all weekend so I was going to pick it up yesterday. They totally changed the deal on me yesterday and one guy was rescinding the $1000 rebate and trying to finance me at 2% more than we agreed upon. Came out to almost $2000 more over the life of the loan. I told them yesterday I was done and I walked away. The salesman, who is actually an easy guy to deal with, called and apologized today and finally let me know that they still could not offer me the original deal but that we were within $15/month on payments. I said thanks but no thanks as thats still over $900 more than we agreed upon and walked away.

I hate changes to the deal after its made. They are refunding my deposit today

Also my twins are tiny, and we only had them in the carriers for 1 year then we couldn't carry them any more and switched to normal car seats. Rear facing for about 1 month then we turned them around cause they were screaming non stop.

Last weekend when I visited the dealer to pick up some oem oil filters, I checked out the new 2014 trd edition tundra 5.7.... What a beast!!
Almost wanted to trade in my 2011 sr5, but I couldn't afford the gas on this thing if its 13mpg!

Nice truck tho, soooo much bigger inside than the 4R

I get 12 mpg city after I installed the T U R D supercharger on my Crew Max was getting 13 mpg city before. I get 13.5 mpg city on my TE Runner . So gas is a wash. I prefer the HP of Crew Max over the slug of a motor on the TE.

How did you get 13mpg in a 4runner trail?

I average 19mpg on my '11 sr5.... Lowest I get is 18 in city traffic. On highway I can reach up to 22...

Mostly city driving, short drives less than 6 miles round trip, using Costco gas .
Here in So Cal freeway average speeds are 80 plus. Burns gas that way.

13.5 MPG in your 4Runner?!? I get 22-23 on the highway with 265 Load range E Duratracs on it

Honestly, if I could get the same fuel mileage as the 4Runner with the Tundra that's what I would have. >12MPG =:crybaby:

Ditto. Really wanted a DC Ltd, 4x4 but couldn't get past the 13/17 rating. Would have cost less than my LE.
