Yep, you'll need to have the tire shop disassemble your current tire wheel setup and take out the TPMS sensors. They will then install them on your new wheels.
On my 2008 Tacoma, I didn't bother with all that, and I always had the indicator light on the dash lit, so annoying.

Or you can just buy another set for the new wheels and tires. Cost you only a little more then remounting and rebalancing.
Our 5ths sensor part number is PMV-107J and are made by Pacific. You'll need the service kit for the wheels too.Read the directions carefully on installing these as proper torque is essential . Too tight and you'll crush and split the o-ring seals. Most tire shops should do it for you if you have doubts.
Great price for a set of 4 of them. I paid $80 for a set and I thought I got a good deal! MSRP from Toyota is $100 a piece,so $400 a set!

You'll need this kit too or else most tire shops have them.Not 100% percent sure this 216 is the right kit, might be the 217. I can check when I'm home as I have an extra set there. Discount tire had the kits for sale for $25 as do alot of auto parts stores.

No, It's the law . TPMS Legislation from NHTSA
If your really good with wiring you can trace out the wires with the wiring diagrams to the TPMS ECU and ground it as many 4th Gen owners have to kill the light warning.

In the past year, I've begun to realize that car dealers really want your tire business. My brother got a killer deal at his Ford dealer on Michelin LTX M/S 2's by bringing them a quote.
My dealer is right next to Costco, the service manager urges customers to get a price at Costco and he will match it. All the talk about broken studs/lug nuts and the special handling of the TPMS has me thinking I will hit them up when it's time for tires. In shop alignment, if needed, doesn't hurt either. Any opinions or experience with buying tires from your Toyota Dealer?

I never read or heard of a way to adjust the setpoints. They are set by the factory.
If I remember correctly ,it is 26.8psi. Read it somewhere from Toyota but can't find it now.
When I aired down offroad to 25psi it did throw a light. Took about 15 minutes or so before it came on though . When I aired back up ,the light went out in a couple of minutes.

Just remember when buying aftermarket wheels to check and make sure they are TPMS compatable. It is a very good feature that will save lives and tires!

I was with a few guys with Tacos last week and they were like "yea man just reset your TPMS, the button is right.... uh.... it should be..... hmmm.... guess you don't have one."
Tire pressure idiot lights. It shows you that we are becoming a nation of idiots that don't know how to do something as simple as checking tire pressure. Back when I was growing up, we had a tire gauge and an eye ball that told you when the tire was getting low. No lights on the dash or warning buzzers or crap you had to mess with.
Here is a low tech redneck way to get past the TPMS sensors. I change out wheels and tires a bunch. I have a set of MT's and a set of AT's for different times of year and conditions. I haven't done this on the TE yet but will try it in a week or so and post the results. I did it on a Jeep I had and it worked great. Take your spare tire out and dismount the tire from the rim. Drill four holes opposite of each other in the wheel. Insert the valves stems and TPMS sensors in each hole. Put tire back on the wheel and inflate to the proper pressure and voila. The sensors will always read the correct pressure.

I kinda agree with you. The T4R TPM's are just an idiot light, not worth much. I have a Vette and the TPM's actually give me a dash board read out as to the PSI of each tire. This really works and is a benefit, not just a "light".
Since the vehicle sits for long periods of time without use, I can check tire pressure with a flick of a button. Much easier. Imagine, a computer operation this is in fact making life a bit easier......novel idea!

:I'm in the same boat with my Mercedes CLS63 AMG. I'm buying winter wheels and tires but I'm having a hard time justifying TPMS at $270 for the set when I religiously check my tire pressures (especially in winter). I'm on fence, but will likely add the TPMS so I don't have a warning light/chime. Stupid govt regulations....
