Bouncing a few ideas, WWT4RD?

Front lighting, either a 40" Rigid SR on the rack, or a 20" Rigid E Series in the lower grille. With my Baja Utility rack there would be little to no protection with a roof mounted light and there would be glare off the hood I am sure. That said, the front grille would also have no protection in a collision making the bill go up substantially for a small fender bender.

Rear lighting will be flush mounted Rigid SR-M lights in the rear bumper. I have not decided what style yet, but this is the for sure method. I am not sure yet if I will put them on their own switch or wire them into the reverse lights. I suppose I could do both so I can turn them on without being in reverse but automatically illuminate when I am.

Side lighting, I am working on that one. Coincidentally the same idea as Duc, so I think I will let him be the pioneer on that one and steal his idea after he is done :trophy:

I take it with the utility rack you can't run a 40" E-Series like Joneseyy? Could you have brackets fabbed to make a 10-20-10 set up on the bottom of the rack? Get two 10" Spot lights and a 20" flood.

I could run an E Series up there, but I do not really want too. If its on the rack I want the lowest profile possible.

Gotcha. I vote for the 40" SR then if nothing else than the accident repairs in a fender bender ($1400 of lights in the grille would be painful to replace). If you are worried about the glare on the hood and don't want to change the color you could always get the clear coat taken off and replaced with a matte-finish type clear coat. May make the hood look a little dull but the colors will be the same.

Sorry I am being that guy...

I thought about the Grille also with a 20inch light bar. Instead I did 2 510 PIAA with HID lights. My worry is a car accident and that breaks you are not getting that money back. Just my .02 cents.

I wouldn't be so worried about the accident hurting the lights... more of the concern would be of the surrounding and passengers...

Even with my comparitively puny quad Hella FF75 setup and mag gray, hood glare is an issue- especially in the rain. I can only imagine what it would be on BP with a 40"LED.

I say go for the grill unless you plan on blacking out the hood.

I really don't think there is much glare on the hood with the sr on top. Maybe it's because I have a black limited. But the beam pattern in the LEDs are more concentrated forward. No offense Antman.

You should let joneseyyy, SoCal, adio3x chime in on the hood glare. Limamike and deekoi can give you feedback on the lower grill.

On my Rubicons and my Fj's - I went with mounting High and Low as well as how they projected (different switches) that way depending on the conditions, I had my options covered.

No hood glare at all on mine. Yes you can see a faint white bounce, but its nothing thats going to make you want to crash into a tree.

There is a little glare on the hood, but nothing that bothers me; of course the truck is already covered in dust or mud by the time the lights see action. Unless you cut me off in traffic, then I melt you...

I think the "tow light" (the one being dragged behind the truck on a chain) is the only one that SocalTRAIL doesn't have...

Granted the Rigid lights seem to handle shotguns, AR15's, baseball bats, and hydraulic presses fairly well - they still need repair or replacements after the various assults. Fender Bender w/ light on rack = no replacement. Fender Bender w/ light in bumper = replacement.
