Tranny Cooler Questions

Hey guys I was looking at tranny coolers and some install threads; Ive been getting ready to purchase one. Anyways Im a bit confused, as to what actually fails to cause the pink milkshake. From what I understand, the factory radiator has a built in tranny cooler and when the radiator fails it causes coolant to go into the tranny cooler part of the radiator. Is this correct?

Also on the return lines; I wasnt able to find any pics, but I assume that both lines from your new tranny cooler go to the factory inlet and outlet pipes. Correct?

Thanks guys just trying to get a better understanding of whats going on under the hood.

Got 4wd?

milkshake issue can only occur to 4wd units with the 3.4 cuz they came from the factory with a tranny cooler built into the lower portion of your engine radiator. The seals on the tranny kooler can fail, leak into rad, mix fluids and then your tranny sucks it back in (while it looks nice and pink!) , potentially ruining the tranny, radiator/engine don't care too much about the pink stuff. Yes, lines from tranny go into/out of cooler.

The oem radiators are actually pretty good if maintained per schedule, so unless ya just gotta spend on a radiator your true solution is to bypass the factory tranny cooler with an add on, about $35 on ebay, inexpensive insurance!
