Hi, one question I recently notice that when driving and going over 40mph my rpms go to around 1k. Now when I let go the accelerator and it goes down to 35mph the rpm goes moves up to 1.5k is and you can feel the downshift is this normal??? It only happens between 40 and 35 mph. Btw its on my 2012 Limited

Ever drive a manual transmission? When you slow down you have to down shift to keep the engine from "lugging". That's what the automatic transmission is doing. Mine does the same thing. If there's no load on the engine at 40 it's not going to down shift, but it's at the low end of the acceptable RPM range for that gear. If you slow down, the tranny has to downshift to keep the RPMs from dropping to a speed lower than idle, which in turn raises the RPM.

STLDAVE already explained it, and it's normal. I drive in 4 in town, totally alleviates the issue. When I'm in an area of >40mph I just pop into D.
Totally normal, much more pronounced on downhill coasting for sure.

old automatics with just stay in gear or go into N when coasting. new automatics like the one you have stay in gear and as you slow down it will downshift to stay in gear. helps with slowing down but mainly with emissions. if you drive a BMW, staying in gear and downshifting will be even more pronounce

Old automatics? How old are we talking? Because I don't think you understand what a torque converter does.
