trany breather mod

Both of these breathers are for the front differential.

One is for the actuator for the front differential, as seen in the picture. The other one is for the actual front differential, line goes to the top of the diff.

Yes you are correct on this part.

If you are extending the breathers, do you mind doing a formal write-up, and maybe include pictures? I'm not trying to sound daft -- that I can't do this; however, it would be nice to have it, as I'm sure it would benefit a lot of people!

I'm sorry I didn't do a follow up on this, had a lots of parts come in from orders for mods and been busy finishing up. And work started to p/u.

I haven't extended the transfer case one yet. I'll try to get a photo of the tranny as of now. Will be finding a double mount so I can install like the differential one with these.

Hope these pictures help. In the 1 photo you can see where I attached the hose and clamped it, can be done.

The 2 photo shows the hose and in front of it is where the factory hose slide into to a bracket to hold it. I couldn't get the hose I have on there to fit into it, even with soap on it. The factory one has a sqeeze clamp on it and a 6" hose with the breather on it, just twist it off and pull through the bracket. I just put the breather on the hose I used.

I have it just straped for now. will do a proper mount when I get the transfer done.

The transfer breather is located at-- when you see where the bracket for the transmission hose, it is in a straight line to the block( engine). Just above the bell housing/ block area, if you can reach down there you will feel it. I traced the lines from the transfer to that location and used a mirror to see it.

I would say splice into that hose above the transmission as it seems to be the easest spot with hand room to play in. I will be getting some hose brackets to mount to the engine area to make it more factory apperance.

Good luck on doing this mod.

Little follow up

Got under there again, and found a hose 9/32" that I could fit into the trans hold down bracket shown in previous picture. Have routed it and zip tied it to the same spot as before.

In photo below you will see a braded hose cover, that is the transfer hose 5/32". Reach above the transfer case and pull on that hose to the rear, it will pop off the holder. Pull again and the hose will pull through a wire hold down clamp that can be seen from the left side above the transmission, the breather will stay on the clamp area and hose will pull through, no hose clamp on this line.

I added a 2' piece of hose to this line and routed it on the right side and zip tied it to a spot above the tranny, continued to the engine compartment with the trans line.

Found a stock 2 hose piece clamp like the one used for the front differential. The dealer is ordering it and I can install it like it was from the factory. Will be drilling a hole on the firewall to mount the plastic hose holder.

Trying to get pictures in all these areas is no possible due to positioning. I can only explain the procedure of what it took. Will post a final plastic hose clamp picture when I receive and complete.

just got done raising all my breathers on my 06 sport.
-transfercase to t-case motor/actuator...I had to replaced the line because it was dry rotted.
-transfercase to trans ("T" on passenger side top near o2 sensor)... This was all intact. I only extended the final part of the line and ran it up the top of the tranny housing to the passenger side firewall.
-front diff and actuator...these had factory lines that go to breathers on the driver side under hood.
-rear diff... this one requires a union fitting to replace the stubby breather and then you run some hose up to the fuel filler along the neck.
