As far as the install, I think TRD hired monkeys to make the piece parts. Overall, it wasn't too bad but the piece that screws onto the intake box that the filter attaches to didn't line up well with the holes on the box. Nor did the screws holes in the lid match up with those on the box. And that rubber piece that you're supposed to attach to the air inlet that supposedly seals up against the air inlet in the fender? It wasn't long enough nor would it stay in place so I trashed that piece. So I'll suck a little engine compartment air. Not an issue to me.

I've put about 5 or 6 miles on it today to run some errands and probably went about 2/3 WOT at one or two points. It sounds louder (as expected) but I won't know about the butt dyno and fuel mileage for awhile.

Despite the install woes (took me about 2 hours what with removing the air box twice), I'm tickled to have it on. I'll follow-up as time goes by.

i had similar issues with the volant. heres what i did about getting fresh air from the fender. is there a lip you can attach a rubber coupling on & route it threw the fender.

I had the same problem, but what you need to do about the rubber piece is to keep on stretching it out... It should go all the way around with about half an inch gap.

Drive for few hundred miles and the sound will be awesome!

Cool. Thanks, guyz. I'll leave it as is for now. I know that the difference in outside vs a mix of outside and engine compartment air is so minimal that it would barely be noticeable on a dyno. I was more concerned about the air box making noise from contact with the fender but there's sufficient gap that it's not an issue.

On my Mustang, I was able to retune with the CAI and the difference there was phenomenal. I added 25 RWHP (real data; not advertised BS) and ~80% of that came from the tune whereas a stand-alone CAI only gets you about 4-6. Changed the whole nature of the car.

Steeda w/ Brenspeed tunes. I typically run the 89 octane tune. But even the custom 87 tune kicks azz over the stock 87 tune.

I'm only in Chicago beacuse I moved in with my g/f after my 2 year long job in western Kentucky ended in May. I spent the summer fishing (and the fall) and I'm just now beginning to seriously job hunt. I have a good shot at an assignment in Mississippi. But the Stang is buried in a storage facility and probably won't see daylight until end of March.
