TRD PRO Info (please)

I am new here on this forum and have noticed an alarming trend the butthurt when it comes to special packages. I could give a flying fart if you think something is not worth it or too much in your opionion, if so get a better job, dont buy it, budget your money better etc. why do people have the need to justify why they dont want to buy something! Seriously, it is like a bunch of teenagers going on about tis and that and they think that they are the cool kids, cause they wanted sprinkles on there cake instead of frosting. Grow the **** up and coribute somehting worthwhile. Like a dual battery install, how you went SAS on that *****, or your *****in long travel, storage solution etc. for ****s sake please, I was over on the trd pro thread and it was page after page of whining and *****ing and even fighting over it. I know I am not the only one here who see this alarming trend.

And if you care enough to go through and correct my spelling or grammar or language go right ahead, i am comfortable enough that I accept my TBI and my PTSD to sa fair is fair. I am looking for a pro do i need one nope, will i get the deal of the century on one probably but that is mine to know. Have I found one nope, good fun for me in searching being retired and the such. Heck I am not even supposed to be offroading anymore because of the effects of my blast injury ad how it affects my balance, depth perception. So, in the end to each his own.for me i like how it looks, has all terain tires off the bat and i like the terra grapplers, better ride than the trail off the lot, good road manners check, room for my dog check, looks shit hot in Inferno check, lifetime powertrain also covers suspension parts holy bat hell check no more chaning out wheel bearing in a long travel suspension check, check, check. No more having to have special parts like drive axels, etc. dealer can replace it for me under said warranty check! My Engel and dog fit in it, check! Now tell me what the down side is again! Ohh, you cant afford it? You would rather have a then ok well check good for you seems like you might make it out of kindergarden after all.

In all seriousness, i know some feeling will be blistered, why not jaut post things that matter or give a damn well executed etc, not oh man Toyota is ripping us off they didnt fully produce the protype as shown, man that I would not do that etc.... Show us a useful thread of shit you would do. I will try my best to show my meager modifications, like my engel install, duel battery install, fly fishing rod holder install, light install, switchies, etc. heck maybe even fuzzy dice in the mirror install.

Have a great day and I hope that you find what you are lookin for in the end if you do not there may be a different soecial edition at the time with the new year release. If not then you can get a used one or figure which mods mean the most to you and search the interweb for those parts that people upgraded to something different. You should be able to find a grill and body work if needed. In the end dont sweat the small stuff. Hang on , have a good time learn something in the mean time, look at all the mods you can dostart buying things like lights etc if you can, source you a programing cable and software, find a repair manual etc. look at the neat things like how to protect your paint, etc..

:wow2: oh and God bless :usa2:

Lol its "fair enough" for me... :becky:

Seriously.... A Trail Premium is what, $39k? $40k for a TRD Pro isn't much of a jump.

I'm still curious about the process of ordering one though??

You would need to work with your dealer to source one with the distibuter in your area that is built or order ith there allotment, or see if they can dealer trade. Much more dificult with a special edition. Other than that as others have said research search what is coming into port and see if it is available, put a deposit on one, drive away happy. Be willing to pay extra for some options tha you may not want or work with the dealer to either take them off or credit for something else.

I don't want to sound rude but didn't you read what I told you earlier? CONTACT EACH DEALER CLOSE TO YOU AND SEE IF THEY HAVE ONE COMING! IF THEY DO HAVE ONE PUT MONEY DOWN ON IT. IF THEY DON'T HAVE ONE COMING SEE IF THEY CAN ORDER YOU ONE. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE IF YOU REALLY DO WANT ONE.
You didnt come off rude... Im just in a more difficult position because I have 15 months left on my Nissan
lease and my Nissan dealer said I can get out of the lease in 6 month with no penalty... If I get a 4runner now, i will have 4500 negative equity added to the top of it... But if I get a 4runner in 6 months, it will be a wash.

Thats why I was wondering if I ordered the TRDP from Toyota, if it could possibly take up to 6 months to get here, because if so, I can put a deposit on one tomorrow, and still make my lease a wash with no negative equity... Thats why I was asking.

I appreciate the help though. Ill contact a dealer tomorrow. How do I monitor the ports btw?

You will probably need to work with the dealer, or know someone with access to the distributors inventory website. I dont. Ow of any other way. Pehaos someone else will chime in on it. Mine port is Southeast and I can see the truck a few nonths out and to which dealer they are going to with options etc.. If you an get the dealer to look they should have this information and pehaps can work a dealer trade for one.

Thanks for the info... Going to stop by a dealer tomorrow (today now)

tl:dr

I'm still curious about the process of ordering one though??

There is some confusion about 'ordering' one. After speaking with/pressing Inventory and Sales Managers you cannot specifically "order" a TRD Pro in the color you want. The dealers earn a certain amount of monthly vehicle orders from Toyota. They can request a TRDP but that simply puts their name in the 'hat' to possibly get allocated one in a random color.

For example the dealer we used earned 13 orders for the month, the Inventory Manager listed TRDPs for his first five selections (which gave him 5 entries into the 'hat' with all other dealers who requested TRDPs)...luckily (for us) he was sent one TRDP which sacrificed the other 4 spots/requests (not so good for dealer), so they were only sent 9 vehicles out the 13 they earned. This is part of the reason many dealers won't go below MSRP.

Like mentioned you need to start calling dealers regularly and have them check their upcoming inventory (they usually know ~5 weeks in advance), and put a deposit down once a dealer tells you they are getting one. 1,500 for the entire USA is not much and they will most likely be dried up in 2-3 months. They usually sit on the lot for only a day or two before being bought, so a dealer stating they can trade for a color is a big stretch, and most dealers aren't going to go through the expense/effort of trading a vehicle that sells so quickly. Hth and best of luck!

Thank you! Im going to start making calls today

were not butthurt, we're just smarter. it doesn't take a degree in rocket surgery to know that the TRD PRO is a piss poor investment when you can build a better, more capable and reliable truck for cheaper, starting with a Trail.

and like I've said to other people who complain about reading 'aggressive' posts from faceless words on the internet, they need to go to Pirate4x4 and ask a stupid question and see what happens.

Was just curious, thought it was a US only product. Sending the majority of the orange trucks with fancy floor mats to French Guiana seems a little insane.

Did you know that in Belize the 4Runner gets 22/25 MPG? lol Toyota 4Runner - Belize Diesel & Equipment Company Ltd.

Imperial gallon is about a litre more than US gallon, Likely ethanol free as well, so I can see why the 4runner would get 22/25 mile per (imperial) gallon

to you.. to me is a pain free warrantied 90% ready off-road truck that to me looks great.

seriously, why do you guys shit on us that bought it? yes, consistently bring up what you feel is "not worth the money" is shitting on those that bought it.
just say something nice or don't say anything. you don't see us thumbing our noses at you as if we bought something better than yours. whatever 4runner you have I'm stoked youre happy with it.
I personally could have bought an SR5 and save money. do you HONESTLY think that i didn't look at the different 4runner models and carefully weigh my options as to which one was a better buy FOR ME? really?! i drove off with the TRD pro, not the SR5, not the trail not the limited... how about respecting that a little? i obviously thought it was worth the extra money. The fact that you feel "it doesn't take a degree in rocket surgery to know that the TRD PRO is a PISS POOR (really man?) investment" makes us VERY different kind of buyers. I don't see the 4runner as an "investment" for starters, its a truck I'm gong to off road and likely own for more than a decade...if thats what you call an "investment" then i don't know where to start explaining the difference. second, i do feel the extra money is worth me not having to go out and buying the wheels/tires/shocks/skid/plate that this truck already comes with...for 1k more than the truck that doesn't (never mind that i paid under msrp to boot). now i can spend my money, but more importantly, MY TIME on other things for this truck. Also its nice that it looks great, i love the cosmetic touches on this truck. how much is that worth to me? enough obviously.

and btw, this is not Pirate. Im new here but i can clearly see the difference. This is a 4runner community of people that like 4runners that for the most part act very respectfully towards fellow 4runner owners because we all have that in common ...except towards TRD pro owners for some reason. Pirate is a pissing contest off road community filled with dirtbags that for the most part have no clue what they're talking about, please don't feel it ok to behave like those idiots over there, it would be a shame to turn this place.

You sir are not smarter. You are in fact "butthurt" and better suited for Pirate4x4 with your fellow butt hurt pirates.
