TRD PRO Needs A Supercharger...

Here's why the 5th gen won't have a supercharger available in the near future:

How many of us, right now, have cash in hand to drop on a blower? I bet you're looking at anywhere from $6-10k. I bet there's only about 6 of us on the forum that actually would go for it if it was available tomorrow. I'd hazard to guess there's MAYBE 50 people in North America that would. That's a big chunk of change to drop. Shit, I have the spare cash and I can guarantee that I wouldn't go for it if it was available...I have too many other projects that would benefit more from that kind of an investment. I bought my 'Runner as a capable and reliable rig to take out wheeling, not as a speed demon. And if I was willing to spend that cash on a blower, I'd probably be wealthy enough to have something better than a 4runner anyway (I'd love an Icon FJ40.) Now, if they could do the SC for $3-4k, that's another story. At the current theoretical price point vs the market for it, it's just not a profitable project for Toyota R&D.

Gears and lockers are more practical and are actually available. Plus that would be all the performance I need. Well actually I could go for the 5.7 and supercharger actually. But then I would need to win the Lotto too.

Man, I've only been on this forum for a under a month or so and the impression I got was there are a lot of bashers on here instead of helping hands! I thought this was a toyota family? Everyone so quick to jump to the ban hammer or "why don't you do a search?"....How about I don't feel like flipping thru 100 pages to get my 1 answer. If that's the case, all TRD PRO related post should go into that one thread TRD PRO with 250 or so pages....:keyboard:

And I've been here way longer and can tell you without a doubt that we NEVER EVER had this kind of BS before the new attitude showed up very recently. Not even close. Not even a hint of it.

Like everybody else I too was once a new 5th gen owner with a complete list of the stupidest simple questions. Never have I felt that the other members would not do whatever is needed to help me out. And that help was paid forward with interest. This use to be a nice escape from the usual internet silliness. But now that infection has spread here too.

So yes, I think staying only in the Pro thread is a great idea for some. As for help, I know for a fact that more than a few now just pass over questions from those we are talking about. Reaping what you sow is not just a cute bible verse.

Well said Dave, well said.

Ok...I did a search...not much info on TRD S/C for 2015.:biggrin2:

I'm sure you are joking since I provided the links earlier in the thread, both the lengthy discussion about it and those of us dummies that need to go to rehab for clicking on it all the time!

The search argument goes around and around but the less people search and more they start new threads the harder it is to find the good threads where some of the level of detail is amazing. This part isn't specifically directed at you OP.

Since I'm throwing in my worthless opinion anyway, guys lets keep in mind that how one person interprets an email may not be how it was originally intended. Having met a handful of members in person, every one has been super cool to hang out with. sometimes I've read posts and thought "wow that guy is a jerk" only to later meet them to find out they are the exact opposite. I don't get worked up when people bash my "soccer mom" LE or other names it's been called, who cares, they are probably joking and if they aren't why waste your time getting stressed out about it!

:deadhorse:

Let's be crystal clear here, most don't bash the Pro truck itself but there is a sub set of their owners who have separated themselves from the collective as if the Pro was something that it's not.

It's not fair that all Pro owners are now getting painted with the same broad brush, but the fault rest firmly on those thinking themselves somehow different and better from the other trim levels.

Now that they have separated themselves, its pretty funny that the same are complaining of not being accepted. And by funny I don't mean haha.

Don't piss in your pants and then complain that it's wet.

separated themselves? by having a thread about it I'm guessing is what you mean.

different than the "storm trooper 4Rs show yourselves!" thread?
or "lets see them lifted trail editions!" thread?
or "Texas meet up!" thread?

its not separating yourself from anything...its simply talking about your truck with other that have the same thing or interests on a focused thread...like every single other thread about a subject does.
was there some sort of comment where it said "non TRDpro most not post here" ? no. in fact, id say 2 out 5 posters on those threads own other models and are simply commenting or answering questions people post on there...isnt THAT what these forums are actually supposed to be about?

are some of the comments douchy? yeah!! just like EVERY thread on this forum. they all have one or two douchy comments on there.

shit, i got dragged into it again

the Pro crowd (and I caveat that 5% of them seem good to go) gets so damn butthurt over things... we used to be able to goof around, mess with each other and move forward with modifications without anyone having their feelings hurt. Now if you don't cuddle up to their sack they report you for being a meanie.... pretty damn sad. I think they should create a Pro Forum where they can all suckle up to each other. Hell I wanted to add the Pro grill but I am afraid of being labeled beyatch by association now

I am afraid to say much of anything around here anymore, because I am a Pro owner. Not only because of the way some other PRO owners have acted, but also because everyone seems to pounce on a thread that mentions the word Pro so they can poke fun.

However, I don't have much interest in a Pro forum. All you have to do is look at the Pro thread and see what it would become. A couple of guys talking about how much they paid, and showing off their ventvisors, paint protection, and blue headlights.

you are the 5% I caveated.... havent seen much butthurt coming from you!

and LMFAO about your pro forum comment... that is what I was eluding to.... all trim lines accept the same mods not sure why the elite few think there is something magical about the pro
