Here's why the 5th gen won't have a supercharger available in the near future:
How many of us, right now, have cash in hand to drop on a blower? I bet you're looking at anywhere from $6-10k. I bet there's only about 6 of us on the forum that actually would go for it if it was available tomorrow. I'd hazard to guess there's MAYBE 50 people in North America that would. That's a big chunk of change to drop. Shit, I have the spare cash and I can guarantee that I wouldn't go for it if it was available...I have too many other projects that would benefit more from that kind of an investment. I bought my 'Runner as a capable and reliable rig to take out wheeling, not as a speed demon. And if I was willing to spend that cash on a blower, I'd probably be wealthy enough to have something better than a 4runner anyway (I'd love an Icon FJ40.) Now, if they could do the SC for $3-4k, that's another story. At the current theoretical price point vs the market for it, it's just not a profitable project for Toyota R&D.
