TRD vs Non TRD Tundra Coils

More than likely in some obscure thread this has been covered but no one seems to mention using non TRD coils as part of the front end lift? are the just not worth the time or is the ride with the TRD coils the much better? I can find Non TRD 2WD Tundras all day down here in FL, but have never come across a TRD 4WD wrecked. So whats the difference to us?

just an FYI in case you didn't already know this .....

Toyota doesn't make parts so the term TRD is really just a logo stating that Toyota approved the design.

One years TRD struts may be made by Tokiko, another year's made by a different parts manufacturer. In fact you might buy a 2005 Toyota and the struts were made by Tokiko and then in 2014 you need a new strut and it will have the same Toyota part number but might actually be produced by someone else now that its 2014 because they gave the contract to the other guy.

In the end if it is Toyota that at least means it met Toyota's rigid specifications.

Your question refers to "TRD Tundra Coils" vs just "Tundra Coils" --- correct?

I ask because there is no such thing as 1996-2002 4Runner "TRD" coils.

I figures someone made the components for toyota but was more asking about if there's a difference between the springs on a "TRD" version tundra and a non TRD

I'd say for tundra, probably but call your parts department to confirm.

From what I know the trd coil is progressive and the non is not. The progressive design gives you a soft ride when driving normal and when cornering or hitting bumps they stiffen up to give a more sport feel.
