Trying to find a camp site!

Hey guys I live up in the Florida panhandle and I am trying to plan a camping trip in early November. I'm reaching out for help to find a cool camp site. I usually stay in sites that have primitive and RV spots and I'm tired of it. I have my 4R and want to put it to work! I just don't know of any places.

If you know of any interesting places in Florida or lower Alabama let me know. If there is a data base out on web somewhere that I don't know about then please point me in the right direction.

I'm looking for something along the lines of a decent drive into the woods. Nothing too crazy but a fun trail to the site(my rig is lifted and 4wd but my buddy has a lifted 2wd Chevy). Also prefer a camp site on a spring, river or creek for a water source.

Your best bet is getting on a trail that leads you to one of the big creeks like cold water creek in blackwater state park and finding a sandbar to camp on. There are several of those spots scattered throughout the area.

Thanks For the info. Back in high school we would float down the river and camp on the sand bars. I never knew they had trails leading to them, I'll check it out! Thanks again

Best way to find them is follow the creek on Google map and look for dim roads leading to the creek. Some are closed, and it will take some time just driving around to see where you can get to. Just remember, no vehicles on the sandbars, man in the green pants will give you a ticket in a heart beat.

I second what bowhunter said I've been around that area and looked on my phone on Google maps and found some neat places and trails leading to the creeks a couple of places have rope swings into the water. I've found some nice places at Red Rock Road but that was about a year ago.:iagree:
