Trying to upgrade bulbs in headlights and fog lights, need help

I am trying to put a stronger bulb, non HID in the headlights on both mine and my wife's trucks. I also want to add the PIAA yellow fog light bulbs but I am struggling to find the bulb types for each, dealership couldn't tell me, auto parts store couldn't tell me, and I can't find it on here. I'm trying to avoid pulling the bulbs out to find out as that will take more time than asking on here. Thanks in advance!

i believe it's in the owner's manual, but don't struggle too hard: both the lows and fogs are H11.

FWIW- I have the PIAA yellow H11 bulbs in the fogs and they work great, look great and have lasted for a long time- still going strong.

2014 fog light bulbs are different...

You are right. H16 for fogs in 2014+.

thanks for the clarification.

at this point, I am holding off on any more mods until the 2017 come out. then I will decide if I will keep my 2014 or upgrade.

or be a lazy old man and just get a highlander cause im an old fart now and could care less in my grumpy old age.

I just installed a pair of PIAA H11 Plasma Yellows in my fogs this weekend. I do wonder how they compare to the few other yellow bulbs out there that go for about 1/3rd of the price.

The old PIAA Plasma Yellow Ions, had a translucent and purple/bluish coating on the bulbs, which provided a much crisper yellow light. The new ones, like what I got now use a solid yellow coating, which IMO don't put out as nice of a light.

I've had a pair of Nokya 2500k H16 (Type 2) bulbs in the fogs for a while. Just did the H9 conversion for the headlights this weekend with Nokya 3800k Super White bulbs. Seems brighter to me than the stock H11's.

One other question because I can't find it for my year model. What is the max watts the factory harness can handle without issues? I think the standard low beam is 35W. The ones I am looking at are 55W. Thanks in advance.

you need to specify what year your 4Runner is...

I did the H9 and 9011 upgrade (65 watt) last spring in my 2014 and no issues whatsoever (other than better light). Also installed 55W H11 in to the fogs where 19W H16 were. No issues.
Reverse lights also upgraded to 50 watt.
