i think we should start calling them "loopers" just to confuse the hell out of people!!
i should've told the Jeep guy that I had some "loopers" with me. but gosh, if i was that Jeep guy, i'd have let me help ...
not because i'm smarter or anything, but just because my recovery equipment is better than a shoelace with a hook.
i think i'll just start wearing a sack on my head so that if i get out to help someone and it's a guy, they won't get all angry that a girl is offering them assistance!

haha, yabe, that's cute.
and kev, for some reason, when i offer to help a guy change his tire, or when i offer to help recover his vehicle, or when i offer my equipment to help a guy recover someone else's vehicle ... the guy always acts angry with me and dismissive! it makes me sad because i want to help!
there have only been three men who have let me help them. one of them was at a park ... i was biking, getting my exercise, and taking pictures of the sparrows that would land on my handles, and this guy with a silver 4th gen. pulls in with a flat and starts messing around with it. he doesn't seem to be making any progress, so i go over and offer to help him. he was really appreciative, and it was my first time changing a tire on a 4th gen., so we both had a learning experience because he had no idea how to change a tire, period!
but it's funny because as i was changing it for him, this other guy pulls up and asks ME if he can help me change MY tire ... it wasn't my tire and it wasn't my truck! he just assumed it was because the only other people around were the asian guy who actually owned the vehicle, and his asian daughter in the front seat!

BYW ... if you're curious about my handle ... have you ever tried to sign up on ebay? I spent about an hour trying this and that. Then I wrote 'ebay' backwards and tacked 'dude' onto it. And presto you have what seems like a yappin dude ... which seems to also fit by times

haha, Chris, that's a great way to make a username!! yeah, i did try registering on ebay once ... i think i had to put about five different words together in order to find a name that hadn't been taken!!
no no no, i don't think they were spooked by my good looks, i just think they were spooked by the fact that i can open my own car door. and then when i offer them my recovery strap or my shackles, then they usually just freak out and run screaming into the woods. yup, ain't no good looks here!

For some reason, I don't think wearing a sack on your head will actually stop anyone from running into the woods. I also have my doubts about your 'no good looks' too. I've seen a quazi mug shot on the new board.

hehe...about all we've got around here is (apparently--I've never been) some stuff down along the brazos river down south of town...kinda SSW of CS. more like west of Welborn.
regarding the thread on gatherings...I'd be game to go if I could make it, but I dunno about taking my 2wd too far off the dirt roads...I'd rather tag along and watch.

The way I figure it ... if someone, anyone, wants to pass some knowledge on to me that will stop me from doing a foolish thing, then I'm game. This off-road stuff is too dangerous to experiment with -- especially with some other vehicle -- or life for that matter. Accidents happen too quickly so the more minds that are tackling a problem, the better the results should be.
That LOOPER was a fool and hopefully the stranded vehicle wasn't a victim of his swollen head.
