I did things a little backwards, because it's raining pretty good out, and I didn't wanna get soaked under the rig. Still have some xfer case bolts to tighten, as well as clutch lines to install and bleed. Getting close though.
I apologize; I know the shift knob is hard on the eyes. I have a new one coming this week.

Got the clutch start and cruise harness built and installed. Turned out nice.

I know- my firewall pad needs cleaning terribly. This whole rig is filthy, but I wanted to get the manual swap done before I cleaned it up.
I wish I had a better plan to tie the +12v and ground into the factory wiring, but I just don't. I was kind of in a hurry, and wanted to get the harness built and installed, so I just tied in the switch wires. I'll have to tie pwr and grnd in later. That's why I didn't tech flex the cancel switch wires-

Got the passenger side of the dash all back together, so all I have left is the driver side knee panel. Didn't install it in hopes I can tie in the cancel switch quick tomorrow.
The auto and manual trans mounts are different, and the manual rubbers separated from the bottom side. I'm on a budget, so I'm gonna splice the manual mount ears to the auto mount. New OEM trans and engine mounts would be super sweet, but there's about a hundred other things higher priority than those.
Oh, I tested the clutch start switch(not the cancel switch)- it works; won't crank till you depress the pedal [emoji12][emoji1598]

I know most people just have cars/trucks to get them from A to B. Dirty cars/trucks are normal- they don't offend me [emoji6] Having my rig clean honestly changes my whole driving experience, day at work, week, etc. I don't always keep it clean BTW, I just only take pictures when it's clean.
And the camera hides a ton. There is actually quite a few door dings, and even more scuffs and scratches. Excited to clean it up and polish it out. Hopefully it'll be as rewarding as my Anthracite was.

Having a clean truck really does make you feel good, especially when you park it at at the store and get to walk out to it. Or walking out to it when you're leaving work. But it also makes me not want to get out and use it because it is clean haha. Like this weekend it was clean from earlier in the week, I even waxed it. Therefore I made sure I stayed on pavement for at least one weekend...

Oh what up dude?! I'm like "wait, did I click the mk4 forum?!" [emoji23] Good to see you over here. I can't recommend them enough man- I loved my '97, and the '01 is gonna be just as great. BTW, you're totally busted

Jetta will be on the back burner for quite a while, I'm afraid. [emoji17] I super miss driving a mk4. I've had a lot of vehicles, and the 3rd gen 4R and mk4 are probably my two favorites. The 335i doesn't count. [emoji25]
I hear ya [MENTION=116387]Unner[/MENTION]. That said, "using" my 4Runner is taking our boys with us on the weekends, and I still vacuum it every weekend. I see it this way- having it waxed makes the dirt wash off that much easier! I really love your rig BTW. Super nice [emoji1360]

Sorry for the uber late reply man! Was on vacation. I actually just used hot water. I actually thought about using detergent, but the only reason I refrained from doing so was because I wasn't sure if it would degrade the fiber strength of the seat belt given that the seat belts are at least 16 years old. It probably wouldn't adversely affect them, but I'm a weird paranoid dude and decided to just play it safe.

On the topic of cleaning, I use this to clean the dashboard and plastics of my cars. It is UV protectant (No VOCs or any other harmful chemicals), does not leave that disgusting used car dealership shine appearance (instead a nice matte finish), and it also leaves a nice, subtle new car smell!

Having a fresh coat of wax does make dirt come off much easier, even tire shine can help make the mud come off tires easier too it seems. Thanks!

Been lurking this build for some time. Progress is awesome man and it looks killer.

Wish I would've known about you a year ago when I still had interest in finishing my shaved bay in my mk3 GTI. Could've used your wiring expertise in finishing it hahah.

I use "showed up" loosely. Our mail lady is lazy AF, and left a "sorry we missed you" note in our mailbox- for the second time this week- while my wife was home. So, "showed up" means we had to drive to the PO to get it. Omg, I don't cover up my license plate, AND show pics of my address?! I'm so crazy.

Burnin the midnight oil

I swear by this stuff for manual trans vehicles. It transformed the way my '97 Jetta shifted.
Got just about everything wrapped up! Wife picked up some goodies while I was at work-

Longer bolts needed for manual trans swaps can be seen in the pic.
Finally get to do all the "new car" stuff. Changed the oil, new coolant, new trans oil.
The wife wanted to take it tomorrow, so I stayed up late to get the trans oil replaced, and the alignment good enough to drive. Took it for its first trip down the highway, and it runs/drives/shifts awesome [emoji1598] I told her I can't promise she won't die, but I think she'll be fine.
Anyone reading this know of anyone who has swapped out the stupid '01/02 electric brake booster for the '96-'00 diaphragm style? I'm having a hard time re-mounting the VSC/TRAC/ABS computer(it was mounted right where the clutch pedal is), but I have to keep it for the booster and speedo to work. I have the Tacoma engine harness, so I have the VSS wiring. I'd have to get a VSS, do a little wiring, and I could have the speedo without needing the computer. Just trying to figure out the best option.
I'm not sure if I like the electric-boosted brakes as well either...

Oh, I should add- I feel like it has pretty great power for a 190hp SUV with a real frame and "35's". I wanted to re-gear the '97, but I'm not sure I even want to re-gear this one. Really lame I no longer have a locker though [emoji23][emoji30]

It's weird how products double so often in the detailing industry. So even though it's a leather cleaner and protectant, you use it for interior and dash also.

I miss the lockers I have on my 96 vs 01, but 01 is new to me don't know how far the build is going.

Fantastic job on the swap, impressive!

Regarding the brake system, think you would be first to swap it out.
From what i've heard it gets expensive when it chit's the bed.

What little gizmo do you use for pins and sockets of electrical connectors? I have pin/socket tools just don't work on Yota connectors.
