Installed my kit this morning. Super easy mod and I found the kit to be well built and the instructions well written. I mounted on the passenger side on the hatch. i used the pull down strap bolt to ground the setup and it worked great!!! Thanks again!

Remote start not working right
I recently installed this and love it. I spend a lot of time camping in the back of the runner so its incredibly useful. But I ran into an issue with my remote start not wanting to stay on since the install. I can still start the car with my fob but after only a few seconds the engine stops and I can see a red security light come on just below and right of the steering wheel on the console. Anyone else have this issue? With winter fast approaching I really need remote start working. I may just disconnect the hatch switches for winter and reconnect for camping season.

Glad you are enjoying the kit! I am not sure how the kit would affect the remote starter operation. Could you send me a PM with what remote starter you have?

Installed mine yesterday and it works like charm. I havent yet mounted the controls - not sure where/how I want them mounted - so for now they’re just taped to my Rago Molle Thing, but all fully functional. The only issues I had during installation were a direct result of my being an occasional moron. But once I was in the correct correct wiring harness I found the correct wires, tapped away, and violla!
$50 may seem steep for a couple bucks in components, but the instructions were worth every penny! Thanks for demystifying and providing a kick-ass mod, nytosc!

Do the buttons function when the motor is running?
Yes it will work when the ignition is on. If you are concerned about a dog popping the trunk open when moving, know that when the vehicle is locked it won’t open so there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.
I can do a custom kit with a second button where both need pressed though if interested. Feel free to shoot me a message if you’d like to talk further.

Could one of these switches be wired in & stay illuminated? I realize that presents a potential battery drain issue. To that end, could a capacitor or something be used to power the switch for an hour or so?

That switch latches closed and open circuits for turning things on or off. You'd want a momentary switch for this application. It is possible to hook up to constant power. The switch would likely consume very little power but it is possible to kill your battery. Going through and adding circuitry to power the switch is likely unworth it. You could do another switch that turns the LED on though for when you are sleeping in the back. This would be rather custom but for a fee I could do it.

Hm not too sure on how to do that. There may be some way as the factory remote does. I'd ask whoever is installing it they may know.

Just purchased the mod kit. The transaction was quick and easy, I received the kit promptly, and it appears to be a quality job. Count me as another satisfied customer. Now I just need to find the time to install the mod.

Installed mine yesterday. The kit is very high quality and the switches feel great. With the individual shipping on the switches I probably would not have been far from $50 anyway. I opted to install it in the rear door instead of the side trim. This was much easier than snaking it up and back down.
