Ultimate camping mod- rear window up / down and hatch pop with ignition off!

Sure thing. I'm glad you appreciate my small effort. I'll be making a video of the Sprint Booster soon as well as the CompuStar remote-start system.

Tip: I found it easier to thread the coat hangar from the bottom-end of the hatch door through the channel and to the grommet at the top-end of the hatch.

*** IMPORTANT *** I will also add that the Black Plastic Trim piece that you pull off the inside of the hatch door is INTEGRAL to the rear window operation. It prevents the window from scraping along the track guides when rolling-down/up. DO NOT ROLL DOWN/UP THE WINDOW WITH THE BLACK TRIM PANEL NOT REINSTALLED. You will scratch the glass and ruin any tint applied.

EDIT: Jesse was kind enough to send me some money towards tint repair. However, the tint guy repaired under warranty at no cost to me, so I returned the money. It was still a kind gesture from the seller and it is much appreciated. Sobering to know that there are sellers out there that care about their customers. One of the reasons you buy the kit and not DIY is for support like this... but to each their own!

Very good point on the glass- I updated installation to warn others.

I plan on ordering the kit before too long, need to financially recover from Christmas.
This kit could be a valuable safety feature. If for some reason you cant exit the side doors yet need to get out, this would make it possible. Cliff wall on one side, sheer drop on the other. Wedged between rocks and/or trees, etc.
Also, I'm thinking of mounting it around the C pillar area. Can be accessed from the cargo area or a rear side door.

I'm interested in a kit, but something a little custom like ElectroBoy installed. Send a PM if you can help!

I just finished installing the kit I purchased from OP, and I received nothing but great customer support from Jesse. Knowing I wanted to install it on the tailgate, he made the kit with disconnects and the black low profile button. I have a 2020 TRD ORP with keyless entry, and the wiring didn't match the diagrams provided in the install instructions. Jesse was quick to answer my email questions, researched the new wiring, and got me hooked into the proper wires. He even provided a partial refund for my troubles! Everything works great, and I'm looking forward to using it in a couple of weeks.

Install is extremely easy if you install it on the tailgate - no removing the speaker, no fishing cables with a coat hanger, etc. Hardest part was cutting openings in plastic for switch and button.

I want to do this, but I'd rather have the same factory up/down switch like the one by the shifter. I don't know what the wiring looks like for that switch, but seems like it should be doable. Any reason why people aren't doing that? Is the switch expensive? Is the wiring much more complex?

Some folks prioritize the switches being small and low profile. Less visible to prying eyes.

If I were to guess, it has something to do with the hole. A factory clean cut hole with a factory switch seated at the appropriate depths may be (too) difficult to accomplish in a spot not intended for a switch or unnecessarily costly for such a simple mod (factory switch, plug to fit etc). My switch was $2.50 or something, its discrete and installed easily with spade lugs. Im not a fan of the switch with arrows. Mine is invisible from outside the car but in a very useful spot when car camping.

Points taken....I like the idea and would have the switches hidden under my Canvasback cover to mitigate the risks of visibility.

Just in case anyone else is interested, I just did a run of 20 kits.

Hey just wanted to say thanks for the kit. Got it in the mail yesterday and installed it today. You're right, easy install but running the wiring was a little bit of a pita.

Honestly I don't care if people see the switch or not, most of us have built up vehicles so will attract eyes no matter. Moreso, if a curious person wanted to get in and see what all the buttons were about they'd have to break in anyway. Plus people's window tint should hide it fairly well.

If down the line I don't like the look of the buttons I'll just swap them out but for now I like them the way they are!

Hey nytosc , I've had a problem since I installed. The buttons inside work, but the key on the outside of the hatch has lost its function. I went in and took off the taps and soldered on the wires and I still have the issue. Any idea?
