Was looking to order one of these kits and was really bummed about how on my new 2020 Smartkey 4runner it loses the windows functionality (and also the car is awake when the key is inside.)
After some googling found out you can disable the smart key functionality on the keyfob by holding the lock button while pressing the unlock button 2x. Pressing any button after re-enables the smartkey function.
Haven't ordered my kit yet or tested, but I assume after doing this the car shouldn't detect the key.

FYI, I ran an extension and mounted the switch where my daughter can reach it from the 3rd row seat and she's able to adjust the rear window while under way when it gets too hot for her in the back. Nice feature and it doesn't seem to affect the locks while moving. I do not have the keyless start, btw.

That’s a cool feature. But if your daughter is very young, and like most kids, that window motor will be getting quite a workout!

Install is about half the time and much easier. Remote kit allows you to lock / unlock / window up / window down and pop the hatch while in or out of the vehicle with a small key fob. I have a few kits built up and will be building more over the next few weeks. Price is $100 shipped. See below video for more information-

Does the key fob remote allow incremental small steps of up and down control of the window, or is it all up or all down when you hit the button?

I have a 2004 as well and mounted mine on the top right (looking at it) of the tailgate panel. It was definitely a tight fit. Not sure if I have the same switch as you.

Thanks JD, that's where I'm looking at. Luckily (sarcasm) I already cut a hole in the panel, so now I have to figure out how to fix that. Anyone got a good suggestion for that....

I was just looking at the original kit i got in June, yet to install.....Anyway to utilize that +whatever additional parts required to do the wireless version?

Can you provide some more info on where that white receiver/control box is mounted?
Is that a mounting nut on the cover?
And the purpose of that black pad?
Is there an antenna?
Can you post some photos of how it looks installed?

This mounts onto the bracket that holds the body control computer on. Luckily there is a channel on that bracket which I use. I'm pretty happy with how well this fits! See below:
See image below- this mounts to the factory bracket that holds the body control module on.
I drill a hole in the panel and back feed a M6 bolt thru with a special washer on the front to retain it. I ship the kit with the mating nut (and a star washer for your ground) right on the stud to keep things organized.
Black pad is just to provide some insulation as it mounts to a hard metal bracket- its probably not necessary, but it cant hurt.
Yes there is an antenna, but it is housed within the box. To the end user, they dont have to worry about it- all they do is hook up 4 wires and attach a ground via a 10mm head bolt.

Just wanted to chime in and say the wireless kit is awesome. Had it installed in about an hour, no issues encountered along the way. I'm impatient and sloppy when it comes to cabling and wiring cleanliness, but it was pretty easy to keep this tidy. Very happy with the way it turned out!
The amount of convenience this delivers for the cost + time sunk is a no brainer imo.

Hello all,
So, I jumped on the wireless kit for the UCM and I must say that it works as advertised.
[MENTION=165350]nytosc[/MENTION] definitely knows his stuff and he wouldn't even let me install the kit until he found the proper constant 12VDC power source. I had originally bought the OG kit, and he let me swap out for the newest kit.
The install was a breeze. The install guide is pretty solid. There are few edits I already suggested for clarity, but if I can install it, then anyone can. The hardest part is tapping the 3 wires on the W10 connector. If you undo the tape or slide up the protective covering it is pretty easy.
Thanks to the forum and the OP for this great mod. Definitely worth the price, especially if you sleep inside like I do.
Side note: here is the video I made after install to test functionality -- I should have done the demo from inside, but it's full of stuff so this is the best I could do at the time: UCM TEST VIDEO
