Ultimate Scion Headunit (stereo) thread

As mentioned, deals are out there. I was able to find a T1819 on craigslist with the harnesses for $65. Not sure why the ones on ebay are so expensive and dont even come with the cables. I will also be taking pictures of the Bluetooth mod so we can get some good instructions on here.

When doing the Bluetooth Mod does this remove the ability to use Bluetooth calling since there is no mic to pick up your voice when talking to someone? I just installed the same radio T10004 and was gonna pick up the cable for the Bluetooth but if this works a 100% then I'll save some money.

Some feedback on the OEM microphone that I installed with my T1819 radio. It works awesome. The feedback I get constantly is that "we know you're using HF, but we can't tell if you're driving or just sitting still". Another words, the background noise is not being heard by your callers. My GF has the '08 limited with built in mic/BT and mine sounds better than hers. Granted, my mic is glued to one of the non existent grab handle blank plug above the driver's head so that has a lot to do with the sound quality, I'm sure.

It does not remove it. It will still connect if you let it.
I can call out but the other end can not hear me because there is no mic. Just the same, they can call and you can receive but you can't speak to them.

If you have android phone you can set the Bluetooth to media only and uncheck the phone option on your phone so it doesn't automatically pick up to the radio. Assume it's the same for Apple products.

If you're not using a phone then you don't have to worry about your mom calling and asking embarrassing questions loudly when you're with your friends.

Do you have any info on how to do the usb mod? I have the USB adapter pt546-00120.

So it's exactly what I thought, the other person won't hear you speak.
Then I guess I'm going to Toyota to pick up my part pt546-74120 that arrived but atleast I only paid 20 bucks for it.

Post 17 has the wire colors. Somewhere out there is a good writeup with photos but I don't have it bookmarked.

Scion FRS T10004 / T1819 head unit

Also if anyone is looking for a Scion T10004/T1819 head unit I have an extra one in great condition without any harness. But I can get all new harness complete for 110 bucks from my Toyota dealership instead of 150-160.

what are you wanting for the t1819?

I just scored a t1818 model head unit off eBay. I am looking to see if anyone has installed this model yet and if so, does anyone know which iPod cable i need for my old dinosaur 4th gen iPod?

Edit: nvm, got everything hooked up and working great.

I am on the lookout for a used or cheap bluetooth mic harness if anyone has it

I was really worried about losing my Bluetooth streaming if I switch to a 4th gen and hate the look of aftermarket stereos so this is great news.

Apparently I'm stuck with 2 of these is there any info on the wiring harnesses so I can slap one into my F150? I assume it's like an aftermarket radio but I don't want to buy a bunch of expensive wire harnesses and chop them all up.

This thread and the others like if have been a great help to me upgrading the HU in my 2006 4Runner SR5. Thought I should post what worked for me for the benefit of anyone thinking about upgrading, I didn’t see any details on the T10071 radio in the thread yet. I just upgraded for the 3rd time (!) to a 7” Scion iM T10071 (pt546-00160) radio I got off-of eBay. The long winded path to this point:

Upgrade #1
T10004/T1819 +the cables mentioned in this thread including the microphone and USB cable. I added a USB plug from Mouser Electronics just below the hazard flasher button (can just see it in pic below)

Gained better sound, Bluetooth handsfree/audio streaming, USB, iPod control can play AAC/MP4a natively from USB. Very nice upgrade but decided I wanted to add a backup cam.

Upgrade #2
T10015 (pt546-00140) 6.1” Touchscreen.

Needed +6v camera and 16pin harness adapter for camera (Bought both from eBay from a guy in Portland with instructions, very nice kit - easy) Everything else plug and play, didn't get the nav/entune modules as nav on the phone is way better IMHO.

Gained touchscreen and backup cam but lost ability to play AAC/MP4a natively. Hardest part of camera install was running cable through the rubber boot between body and tailgate, I wrapped camera connector in electrical tape and smeared this with dielectric grease and it slide through easily. Camera trigger needs adding on 28 pin connector when shifting into reverse, I added an ‘anytime’ camera button also to be able to manually turn on camera view. Used a double pole double throw relay for this and a custom button from eBay, found details on how to do this at the link below. If anything it got rid of a switch blank in the centre console and it is cool to show to passengers.

Toyota 4Runner Anytime Backup Camera Mod

Upgrade #3 (Hopefully the last ;-) )
T10071 (pt546-00160) 7” Touchscreen from a 2016 iM.

Needed to replace 16pin connector with 24 pin Pac-Audio CAM-TY12 harness adapter for camera, buy it from eBay/Amazon. Everything else plug and play with the pt546-00140. Only needed to connect +6v and RCA plug from harness, the camera grounds through RCA so didn’t use the black wire.

Gained nicer screen/interface/gracenote/Aha(questionable) and re-gained the ability to play AAC/MP4 via USB. Lost ability to play CDs but not an issue for me.

Latest pic is attached, good luck with your upgrades

Just picked up my 08 4runner and first thing I want to do is the radio upgrade.

Looking at the T1819, but most I have found are not coming with the factory wiring. I'm assuming it's not really needed, as adapters are needed anyways for use in the 4R.

Or are they?

Am looking to do the same thing. Already have the backup camera, but want to be able to control my iphone rather than use the aux currently.

I bought a T1819 head unit which came with these harneses: PT546-00120-CH, and PT546-00120-US.

Can anyone verify that this would fit in my 2002 SR5 4Runner?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I havn't been able to find any other posts confirming this.

Thanks!

Can't comment for sure on the cabling for an 02 SR5, I would say it only takes 20mins to get the radio out so if I were you I would try it. Don't forget the Bluetooth mic and usb cables. I did not use this myself but would probly have tried one of these usb cables:

For Toyota Camry RAV4 Corolla Lexus Car Aux USB MP3 Audio Input Cable Adapter | eBay

Just in case anyone was wondering, here is my centre console with the camera button, I pulled the dash lighting power from the ashtray wiring. The camera script comes on with the dash lights, the camera Picture lights up when the camera is on. Pretty cool
