unreliable 12V outlet

So my 12V power outlet/ cigarette lighter keeps going out if I hit a hard bump(going over RR tracks greater than 5 mph). Any ideas on how to resolve this? I use it to charge my cell and is just annoying to know that I can't use it as much since the charger won't work.

Did you pull the dash to see if the plug on the back is loose or not fully plugged in?

I had similar issue. Pull the dash and then take the plugs out from behind. There are multiple tiny metal pieces that compose the plug that can work their way loose and develop a small amount of corrosion. I wiped off any dirt / debris, tightened back up and they now work well without issues. Try using a hair dryer to heat the plastic up when removing the dash to avoid breaking clips.
