Update On The AMP Research Power Steps For Our 4 Runners

Back in May my 2013 Trail was used as a test bed by AMP Research Engineers, to design a set of their terrific power steps for 4 Runners. You may remember I posted a thread with photos of the working product (link below).

At that time they let me know once the final product was in production I'd have to come back and have some of the parts replaced with production pieces, painted to match.

The final product is done and ready for release now. In fact we may be just days away from AMP sending out an E-Mail to dealers, announcing they can order and ship power steps to customers owning the T4R!

I can't tell you how cool these are and what a huge difference it makes getting in and out. In addition loading and unloading the roof rack is now a piece of cake. The steps are functional, strong, and operate perfectly every time.

Hopefully this coming week AMP will do their announcement and I'll be getting the final product installed. At that time I'll take photos, including more from a normal angle perspective to show these boards fit the body very well, and blend right into the design.

This is great news. The other day I tried to get some and the dealer said they don't make them for the Trail Edition. Keep up posted, Thanks

Thanks for the update. Now that the 4Runner is the daily driver for the wife, I'll have to look at these. The lift isn't coming off the 4Runner!

Which is the beauty of this site, not only do members hear about things before the public...often it's even before the dealer.

BTW JET the steps look especially good on the 2010 - 2013 Trail. The way the step seats up below the door blends in perfectly with the black cladding on the wheel wells. Adding in the black bumpers you've got what appears to be black protection all along the rig's bottom....with a built in receding step.
