Pretty nice looking job, a little carpet padding underneath the factory mat will smooth all of that out. Is that plaid duct tape on the center console armrest????

Thanks! It has already smoothed out a little and there is padding under it. The plaid is fabric. I also added extra foam under the fabric on the center console.

Thanks! It was my first upholstery job and i think I did it pretty well. It's a lot better than cracked vinyl with a big hole in the plastic!

I am glad to see that someone has done the vinyl flooring. I've been thinking about this for a while now. My carpet is looking pretty bad, thanks to my 4 kids and the dogs. The vinyl looks good. Keep us posted on how it holds up.

Cleanup

Very easy cleanup! Just sweet the chunks into a dustpan or vacuum them. Then wipe with a wet paper towel and dry with a hand towel.

Update!

For anyone looking to do this, make the cuts smaller than the original carpet. Once it has settled completely with 100+ degree interior temperatures, it has revealed some open spots. Other than that, it has held up great and is something I would definitely do again.

Do you have dogs? I'm curious how it would hold up in the back with heavy dog traffic.

We have a dog, but she will never be in my truck. Too much dog hair! haha

I think it would hold up okay, but a thick rubber mat wouldn't hurt.

I wish I would have read this before I installed my vinyl floor. It came out pretty good, but had one little spot on the passenger console where I cut too close. I shoved a piece of vinyl behind it and will glue it, to clean up the look.

These floors are very moody with temperature, so measure 3x, cut once!

Reviving this thread. This stuff is a bear to work with at least for me. I'm trying to get it properly fitted to my first gen and struggling mightily. Having the most difficulty getting the footwells flat.

Thinking about doing this (might ask for the ACC kit for my birthday which is a week away ). I've found that on two places, one is 22 bucks more but mentions that "Jute padding underlayment included for most kits". Did your kit come with padding underlayment or not?

Also has anyone come across any vinyl kits for the rear? Seems like you could get a flat rectangle and cut it out for all but the wheel wells but I'd hate to all of a sudden only have carpet on the wheel wells. Could you maybe mold flat stuff with a heat gun? Does ACC sell flat pieces for custom jobs?

Edit: Okay it appears that Automotive interiors does sell it by the yard in 76" wide sections, 45 a yard. I wonder if one yard could cover it if you are strategic although I fear it would take two with quite a bit of extra.

My ACC vinyl floor was just plain backed vinyl.

It has been holding up great and still looks new after 7 months with daily abuse!
