i gotthe intake today and installed about 1 1/2 hours. my 4R sounds like a race truck now ... louder and meaner
i used it for using it in one of the screws for securing the housing into the body frame.

a zip tie for securing the vaccum tube onto the intake pipe.

Just installed the Volant Intake and I would definitely say that all the problems that people were talking about are EXTREMELY MINOR!
The install went perfectly (thanks for the few tips and photos), and it sounds great!
For the 1/8" tube, instead of using a zip tie or teflon tape, I went to AutoZone and bought 1/8" clamps that fit on perfectly and look stock.
I would definitely recommend this intake to anyone, and don't let the minor issues scare you away. If you read briefly about how to fix the minor problems and are somewhere mechanically inclined the install should be breeze. Thanks Jason @ Burtman Industries for the decent price and good customer service.

Hey guys, been talking with the general manager of volant. He's seen the pics on here and wants to take a look first hand. Its only about 45min from my house, think I'll take a day off next week and go up. I'll let you guys know what's up.

I just intstalled tonight, and WOW is this thing rowdy!! I thought my exhaust was mean, HOLY SHIT!!! I might as well rip my stereo out and toss it in the garbage, this thing sounds freaking mean!! You can fully hear the VVT-i and VIAS? (Variable induction system) switchover points. Its so fucking ROWDY sounding. And whatever happens at 4200 rpm is heavenly!!! I could buy this thing on sound alone, acutally I could lose power and still own this thing...WOW.
Install went fairly smooth. I was done in about an hour, and this was with the prepared 1/8" vaccum hose and zip ties. A couple things: First, when I installed the box it went in fine, I used the stock bolts and it seated great, no rattling or anything. Secondly, MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE FILTER ON IN THE BOX BEFORE YOU ATTACH THE INTAKE TUBE TO THE THROTTLE BODY!!! Believe it or not, the filter was the hardest part of the whole install. It took me a good 5 minutes to physically attach the filter to the intake tube, why such close clearances? It seemed like I didn't even need the clamp as the pressure fit of the filter to the tube was tight enough. One last thing, yes, the strip around the intake tube and box was about an inch too short. No big deal though, I won't even bother the folks at Volant about this.
Now as far as power goes, it doesn't feel too much different. Throttle response is a little crisper and it feels like it pulls harder through the rpm band, but it could just be the sound...I've only driven a combined 40 min on it so maybe the ECU needs to adjust a little, but I will be in Mexico for the next 3 days so I won't be able to report until then. In the mean time, here are some pics (not like they're any different than Bala De Plata's).

Does it feel or sound different then the K&N FIPK? Is that hole in the front of the box there to pull in air from the front of the truck? I was curious if volant was trying to accomplish a similar goal as the deckplate mod there.

Install and have fun scaring everyone on the road with it's mean sound! Just remember... You might be visiting your favorite gas station more often after the Volant. I've been flooring the gas pretty much all the time, just to hear the sound. According to the mileage computer, I'm getting about 14mpg. It was 16.5 before.
