I have a 03 v6 sr5 without the jbl. So, I don't have the sub or the trim etc in the back. I've seen the threads on that and how people have upgraded it and I'm jealous of you people with it in there. However the trim panel and sub box are pretty spendy to get the oem parts. I really want something out of the way to keep the cargo as usable as possible. I've seen the custom box that goes over the wheel well but it's pretty huge and i would lose my little storage cubby. Not a huge deal but i think it's too big for my liking. I would just like to add an 8 or a 10 inch sub for more well rounded sound. Nothing window blowing or anything like that. Anyone try fitting a small sub under the passenger seat? I've seen people putting amps under there. I have manual seats so there shouldn't be much stuff under there. Just wondering about some small sub locations and what you guys have tried out there? Look forward to some pics. And I would have posted this in the audio section but our 4th gen nooks and crannies are way different than other gens.

I don't know if there'd be enough room under the passenger seat to fit a sub, unless it was super thin. I'd look for a sub that's made for the back seat of trucks so that you have one that's fairly thin....if that makes sense.
You can get away with hiding an amp under the seat but I'm skeptical about fitting a sub under one....

Sorry, you have to give up something. Sub(s) take room, and even the thinnest of subs still requires a box to go around it to seal it within a space (below the seat is impossible unless you want to go through your floor). Your best option I guess would be to try to find someone getting rid of the JBL sub and replace the sub in the box like projects here have done and put the amp up front under a seat, or squeezed in the back space too. This is "the best" option if you don't want to intrude at all into the general passenger space. I've taken the entire truck apart and there are no other available areas.
I guess if that doesn't work you'll have to live with no bass:sobbing:

I still find I have space for 5 sets of golf cubs & I've packed the truck to the brim for road trips tons of times. The space I've taken up is minimal to the overall space available.

That's a pretty sweet setup. Probably a little too big for my taste what is that like a 12? I was leaning more toward a 10, and possibly considering an 8...although a 10 would be ideal. I like how shallow that sub mounts that is way nice.

settyb: I've seen some of the similar types of subs you're looking at, I know for a fact that the bazooka sub (it's all in one) in a tube but it doesn't pack much power. Especially if you're looking for something that has some more power to it for the noise factor.

Yes, it's a 12".
I have to say I chuckle when these little sub-compact sub-amp combos get brought up. The idea is good, you can remove them I guess (you would have to cap off the wires). But in the end they I feel they take up more usable space then the over the wheel well options, and cannot sound as good (I'll base this statement on manufacturers here).
I would go the JL Audio (Stealth box & 10w3 10") route myself if I was not able to build a subwoofer box. That is known to be good sounding, and could be removed too.
