Weird issue backing up.

I was backing up out of the driveway yesterday and went to throw it into drive from reverse. All of a sudden the car just stopped like I hit something, there was a weird noise, and then a quick two beeps from the console somewhere.

I did not hit anything and the beep wasn't the parking assist. It was a different kind of beep.

Did I just throw it into drive too quickly from reverse or is this some sort of system in the Toyota that I don't know about? Any idea?

Hill Assist. It's in the owners manual.

You probably put it into Drive and hit the gas before you came to a complete stop. Your transmission will thank you if you don't do that anymore, and come to a complete stop before moving the stick from R to D.
