That appears to be a case of improper aiming. The H9's are the same exact dimensions as the stock H11's, and the stock low-beam reflector already has the center-shield to compensate for the lack of a tinted tip (like the H11 has). The dispersion pattern is no different from the H11's with the stock reflectors - so why would I need different reflectors? This IS NOT an HID retrofit - it is a stock sized bulb with a bit more light output. I have not been "flashed" once, and my lights don't shine into small car's rear windows or rear-view mirrors at stop lights. I did have to adjust my STOCK H11 lights once I installed the mild front lift - but that was weeks before swapping the H9's in.
FWIW - I passed on swapping the Fogs to H9's as the Fog Reflectors DO NOT have the integrated center-shield - and H9's would indeed be a bit rude in that location with that reflector. So much for your theory on me not caring about other drivers - Ignorance is bliss :lalala:

My labor/install is first in that thread, and I had an awesome installer from CarTunes complete the front door deadening/sealing and rings/mounts for the Elate 9"s (door panels still look 100% stock with the 9"s in there!), he will be finishing the dash rings for the 4" Morels (should also look 100% stock), and he also built the custom fiberglass mount for the Alpine DSP Remote (RUX-C800) where the console meets the dash (below the Aux/USB access door). This was my first time paying anyone for Car Audio labor - but after seeing the results of those (3) items I contracted out - I'm glad I did!
It sounds very good, but will still rattle your fillings when needed (referred to as an "SQL" Build, or Sound Quality plus SPL). It's impressively quiet outside when jamming at moderate volumes due to lots of deadening all around. 900Watts RMS on the front stage, 300WRMS on rear fill (generally not used, or used for surround 5.1), and 2848WRMS on the subs = 4048WRMS (true RMS!). My most intense install in my 20+ years of car audio!
There's quite a few T4R's with killer SQ or SQL installs floating around here, and maybe a few more on the DIYMA forum. I'm proud to be one of them
Including the helpful input and mods I stole from here - I smile from ear to ear every time I hop in the truck...

I have no desire to carry the controversy from that thread over to this one, however you are operating on an assumption, nothing more. Indeed, after your final post in the H9 conversion thread, further proof of the additional glare created by these bulbs was posted by [MENTION=44808]sven[/MENTION]. If you wish to blind on coming traffic with a bulb that you have to modify to fit into your oem socket, that is your prerogative. But IMO, it makes you a douche bag.

I operate on first-hand knowledge with my H9 mod. The bulbs and elements are IDENTICAL to the H11's WRT dimensions and where the light is presented to the reflector - the only differences are 1) Brighter Light and a bit Whiter and 2) No painted tip on the H9's. But as stated the 5th Gen's Low Beam reflectors have a built-in cover shield - so I'm not sure why the H11's have the covered tip to begin with (or why Toyota included the built-in cover shield when the Spec'd bulbs already have a covered tip)? Maybe 1E knows?
I like to think I'm a courteous driver (most of the time
) - and I have no problems with my low-beam dispersion on a PROPERLY ADJUSTED stock reflector - and knowing not to use H9's on the fog lights due to the lack of an integral cover-shield is also a good way to prevent douche-baggery IMO...

my, my... yes, certainly not inflammatory in the least.
anyway, in the very next post after the one you cite it's pointed out that the stock housing incorporates a bulb cover so that no matter what bulb is in the socket all of its light is projected from the reflector—the bulb is not exposed to oncoming drivers.
i'm not operating on an assumption.

The Dealer should offer TechStream mods as a free service - but I've read of plenty that charge for it. My dealer did it free (twice). I also purchased the cable off Amazon (looks like it is OOS) - still haven't tried it yet but will soon. eBay has these, too. The cable's driver MUST run on Win XP (either natively or via a Virtual Machine).

Jono.ful: sorry, i assumed (did i use that right?) that a scholar like yourself would understand my meaning: i have H9 lows & HIR highs; my low beam pattern is not this:
nor does that picture represent the vehicle in question's low beams, as shown in this photo from later in the same thread:
you can even tell the difference by comparing (contrasting, more specifically; still have that dictionary handy?) how brightly illuminated the headlight housing itself is via the side view afforded by these two photos.

We need a cheap or free mod list. Get the stubby antenna - reduces risk of damage at the car wash. Secondly do the antman rear bumper cup holders. Well worth the 30 minutes (realistically less) and the $12 or so to do.

I assume you have leather with the premium package and wouldn't want to cover it up, but. . .I am super happy with my Wet Okole seat covers and heartily recommend them.
The stock dunlops do stink, but I'm going to wear mine out (33K on them now) and swap shocks for bilstein 5100s and tires.

Agreed on H9 + HIR headlights mods, if you want to keep halogen lighting.
Very inexpensive mod, really helped here this winter-season, where most of the time, asphalt is dark-covered with slush.
(Jono.ful, could you please go clutter another forum with your "educational" posts please? Filament placement is the same on both bulbs, and the light is shielded. My beam pattern is the same as before.)
Also, if you like the interior lighting color and intensity of LEDS, see the thread "interior lighting mod" for all the information on what to get, this is also another pretty easy and innexpensive mod that gives you way more interior lighting (especially for the trunk, if you pick the LED boards).
