I just discovered there were a couple of pre-recovery pics.
Ended up taking a double line pull with my truck chained to another 1 ton truck to keep it from sliding.

Got the truck out in the snow for the first time this weekend...
Funny rallying down an unplowed section of Old 40 on Saturday, and unplowed Sierra Foothills backroads on Friday evening (because I-80 was a junkshow).
Not so fun catching the first rock hits on Sunday and growing the first windshield crack(s) of the winter. I went through a windshield/winter with prior trucks. I already knew the 4R would likely be the same. Fun times.
Traction control works really well. A bit odd when I first felt the ABS pulsing, but I got used to it quickly. Nice on icy hills around town where I don't feel like shifting into 4WD for short sections.

This so for all of the cyclist out there. I mounted my Yakima fork mount bike carrier to my Baja rack. I honestly didn't think it would fit but it does and it looks pretty good. I do have a single row light bar so some applications might not fit. I have about a half inch b/to the front fork and the light bar.
I used to have the $400 Thule swing away hitch mount but b/c i spend a lot of time on dirt roads/sand, the vibrations literally shook the thing to pieces. I looked back on my way from a trip and my bikes were literally swaying back and forth. Luckily REI will take anything back at a full discount.

I had the same problem with Thule. I took it back to REI two years later and picked up the Yakima Holdup and love it. Not the greatest for parallel parking but otherwise it works great.
I have to ask though, do you use a ladder to get the bike up? My downhill bikes and mountain bikes weight 25 - 40 Lbs and the front wheel isn't quick release. I struggled with the roof rack on the newer 4Runners.

Hooked up the utility trailer for the first time, and cut down a Xmas Tree!
Seriously, I can never understand people who just throw Xmas Trees on the roof of their nice vehicles, and just tie them down. The scratches and sap make me cringe. I even saw a 3rd gen with a tree hanging out of the rear window!

I run a pair of Yakima Forklifts on Yakima crossbars at the moment but was considering the Baja rack like yours and was wondering about this. Glad to see it fits and kinda tucks behind the light bar. We have a Thule swing away we originally bought for the 4R but I went to the roof rack since I could reach it and left the Thule for the wife's expedition since she's 5'6" and the roof of that thing is like 6'7" lol.

Both of my bikes are MTN single speeds so weight isn't too much of a concern. No I usually lift the bike up and just "set" it up there then secure it. It's a little precarious but it works. I was just shocked at how the thule rack just "rattled" apart. I guess there's no reason for them to test the racks that way...so it's understandable.

Yeah we have the new Thule Apex 4 swing and it actually explicitly stated it was not meant for off road use in the directions LOL..so you probably weren't the only one that tested it that way.
