Awesome! Are you able to get up without too much ice gear (crampons etc) or are you sticking to the snow and ice for traction? The surface looks very loose.

I didn't have crampons, though they were recommended - a function of last minute notice and being naive. However, it was a storm of perfect conditions - warm enough to keep snow plush (vs. ice) and yet there was still enough snow to be able to cruise down (and up) with minimal risk.

Some areas, choice was snow, or climb rock. I often chose snow because it was easier (for me), while most of my party did the opposite; if I'd had crampons I'd probably done it an hour faster. When we neared peak, it was mostly loose surface - and combined with slope and altitude, made for very slow going.

Overall though, couldn't have asked for a better day to have done it. Was truly a beautiful place and experience.

I got to test out the nose dive and handling during emergency braking... thanks to an angry driver in a 3rd gen.

I actually thought it was an interesting lineup of cars getting on the highway - a 4th gen (silver), a 3rd gen (white with ~22" wheels), and my 5th gen. The road splits to two lanes that go different directions. I went left and the 3rd and 4th went right. I don't exactly know what happened, but the driver of the 3rd gen apparently developed a severe sense of road rage seeing my 5th passing him, so he angrily swerved into my lane in an effort to run me into the barrier walls to my left. :wtf:

Yes, I got some pretty good nose dive, but I felt the handling remained responsive when I needed it. Also, the cabin was soundproofed enough to block out whatever obscenities the other driver was shouting.

Still kinda wish I knew what set him off or why I became his target, but I suspect those white lines he swerved across were not the only ones he's seen recently...

I have seen this thread over at the 3rd gen & 4th gen forums on here and thought it was a cool idea.

So let me be the first:

Took the runner & the kids to Home Depot to load up with some do-it-yourself closet systems.

I had a flat on the tires I installed 2 weeks earlier. We were on top of the Tushar mountains at 12,000 ft elevation. Put a piece of 3/8 bar thru it. Yuk.

We drove from St George, UT to Mesquite, NV. From there we went to Gold Butte to find the Falling Man petroglyph. Then we drove the 80 miles back over the mountain from Nevada, to Arizona and then to Utah.

We did find the glyphs. Whitney Pockets is a great petroglyph site. Her are a few sample photos.

The last photo was the remnants of a Forest Fire on the Arizona Strip. We came across it still burning and smoldering. The rains hopefully helped.
