Wife and I met friends out for dinner. Valet comes whipping around in my TRD Pro (to the point the couple in front of us says who's driving that thing, Jeff Gordon?) which didn't make me too happy. Kid jumps out grinning ear to ear and says, "I ain't gonna lie to you, that is the sweetest Toyota I've ever driven." Backhanded complement, I know, but bragged to my wife about it the whole way home.

I have a similar story... but valet wrecked our 1 week old Lexus.... probably because someone took that shit as a backhanded comment and didn't do anything about it prior....

Fabbed up a bracket for an onboard air compressor! Was able to use 100% stock mount points too. Still need to wire it up after lunch.

Dealer Bumping Costs on Oil Changes

I feel sorry for uninformed ppl who go into a dealership for service. They told my sister her Corolla w/ 40K needed a PS flush because the fluid was contaminated. They also tried for a coolant flush, when the water pump had been replaced just last year.

I just bought my SD a cherry CRV that had been so over-maintained by the dealer as to be nearly criminal. Sad, really.

I just had my 2011 T4R in to Bud Clary Toyota here in Yakima Washington for the usual 5,000 mile oil change and tire rotation. At the end I get the check list from the service tech and he advises, my toe is out of adjustment and for $78 they can fix that "today". I pull out their previous print out, from my previous oil change, done by them and it has the SAME measurements but is in the green and not red. I brought this up to the service manager and after a back an forth, that they are bumping their service costs with unknowing customers, he says, "the pit alignment machine must be out of calibration". Yeah right.... I didn't witness any concern to stop alignment checks of other customer vehicles, with the "out of calibration equipment", by management. Beware of any of the add ons the dealer wants to sell you or you may have a BOHICA moment.

Spent the day tearing apart my dash to find an elusive rattle that has been driving me nuts and to finally install my Air on Board light switches.









Not sure I got the rattle yet but at least my switches work.

Nice sliders

took me forever doing prep. The oil/grease is really caked on to the steel. I spent a full day cleaning with super clean and also acetone... then painted with VHT epoxy satin black...

the paint didn't stick and is now flaking off... so pissed. I should have had metal tech powder coat them for me for $150. Now I'm going to sand blast them for like $70. Then buy por15 for undercoat and por15 top coat. sigh...
