Yesterday: Built a box to help level the back for sleeping.

Due to the weather, I don't have a installed pic yet.

I guess I forgot to take a pic with he lid on.

The lid is just hinged plywood split in 1/2. It allows access to each side independently.

I need to do the same. Pics when done please.

Yakima Fatcat 6 Ski Rack

A few days late, but just installed a Yakima Fatcat 6 ski rack onto the factory crossbars. Some might be wondering why I'm doing this in May - well, I just got the rack and there's still plenty of snow in the mountains of Colorado. I usually ski in the backcountry at least through June (I skied this past Sunday) and A-Basin is also open til early June I believe).

Overall a nice rack that can fit 5-6 skis, but a few annoyances that I wasn't expecting (that are not really any fault of the rack):

- The factory crossbars sit pretty low to the roof, so depending how things are oriented some ski bindings may contact the roof when you clamp down the rack

- Yakima recommends mounting skis in the rack with tips facing rearward. Well, even with the crossbars moved forward, the tips of my 176cm skis will hit the spoiler if I open the tailgate, something that would be easily forgotten. So, I'll likely just have to mount my skis facing forward.

Trek 305 - Fortymile Desert

160517 – Trek 305 – Short Jaunt on the Fortymile Desert.
Just a short ride from Hazen passing along the east side of the Hot Springs Range then finally crossing saddle about twenty miles out and then on to Brady’s Hot Springs.
This is the last tough stretch that the pioneers had to cross between the last of the decent water at Big Meadows south of where Lovelock now stand and the Truckee River where Wadsworth now stands.
By the way – No need for airing down – Just keep her going about 15 miles per hour through the deep loose stuff -> in low range, second or third gear and the a-trac ON.

Today I finished with my roof rack/basket/LED bar/kayak rack assembly. This sorta combines two configurations I had on my Outback, and is a compromise. I haven't figured out where I putting the ARB awning yet, because the basket mounted FourTreks can only be used when the kayak rack is folded, and the Foxing mount can only be used with the kayak racks up...

It's actually nicer than I thought, no logos and the rungs are more horizontal than I've seen in other pictures.
Need to get some AT hardware and put some non-slip tape on the rungs.
