Tried to install this shackle hitch receiver - it will not fit. I am not sure if I took off all the paint that it would fit then - way too tight. Tried grease and then driving it in - nope. So I guess I didn't do anything to my 4runner today.

Thanks! It made a lot more sense on this car but this isn't the right forum for that! Sad to see it go, but I'm excited to see where the 4Runner will take us.

I'm pretty sure these are the ones I've decided on. Initial thoughts? Is the powder coating textured?
Installed some skate board deck tape to super sliders - Rocky road units.

Turned over 40K miles
40 months and 40 K miles later....this is, oddly, the longest I have ever kept a car ever. I washed her up this weekend. Still looks great. Oddly, I've been thinking of trading her in for a Tundra, but I can't bring myself to do it. I may buy a used Tundra (Plowing, house work, dump, towing, etc) and keep T4R.
No complaints, no rattles, no issues. Ok, the paint wore off the power running board, but that was replaced free. And Entune has it's own set of issues with my phone, but mostly it works.
Otherwise, just the scheduled maintenance, a bit of paint and sanding on the trailer receiver each year and she's good as new. I may even do some spot painting and sanding on the frame, but nothing more than a bit of surface rust on there through 4 NE winters. I may start doing fluid film each year too, 'cause OCD.
The kids still laugh when we go on class 6 roads or I drive over curbs, into snow filled parking lots or up some local trails.
Right now, the 7 seats works well for us, the size of the 4runner still lets me go into the city and park reasonably and the ruggedness/reliability is second to none!
