Last 24 hours have been busy around here

So, I spent yesterday at Rausch Creek Offroad Park in north central PA. Had a fun day but put a bit too much abuse on my OEM (2016 Trail) running boards.

Bet you can't see just how bent up that running board is.

So today, I ordered new rock sliders from Southern Style Offroad. Margen at SSO could not have been more helpful. I'm told 3-4 weeks until they ship. Can't wait. I gotta say that the T4R Trail is so capable with only minor modifications. I expect to stop for a while with the only significant vehicle mods being wheels, AT tires and now the sliders.

AND...I received my Ellis Precision shift knobs from a group buy back in March. They look fantastic. I am excited to install them tonight.

These are similar, but mine have a TRD logo on the shifter head.

It's already one of my favorite weeks this year!

New Shoes Today

My wheels and tires arrived today and I managed to get them installed. Method Racing Standard wheels with BFG KO2's in 265/70-17. So much better than the pizza cutter 20's the Limited's come with.

My wife's 2016 Limited in Blizzard White has the same wheels but with Duratracs. I will not be putting the Duratracs back on it once they wear out as they have gotten very noisy.

Here's a couple--I can take more if you need. These aren't very close up. The instructions on Yakima's site indicate measuring back about 10" from the top edge of the windshield for the tower placement, but I think that is flexible.

Have you found the Baseline Towers to be solid/secure during heavy crosswinds? I have been using the crossbar set up from my 3rd gen (Q-Towers) above the doors to haul my outrigger canoes. The clips are an exact fit with only the pads being a very slight question as to fit. The only time the bar has moved is when experiencing heavy head/crosswinds (35+ mph) at interstate speeds. However, if the Baseline towers are a better fit, I might spring for the newer equipment. Maybe I'll take my current set up to REI to compare.

It is very frustrating when you can't transfer existing rack equipment between vehicles, which seems to be the case more often than not lately. :mad2:

They seem super stable. This set up is designed specifically for the 4Runner and the pads are contoured for and fit perfectly into the roof channels. The new stuff comes with a torque wrench to get tightening the system down pat. Just tighten until the driver clicks. I have yet to strap our canoe up there but have hauled SUPs with no problems. I'd like to get an outrigger canoe! Got hooked on that in Hawaii.

That's one reason I didn't want a Limited, 20" wheels on a 4WD 4Runner is asking for destroyed tires and bent rims.

Thanks for the pics. Do you have a moon roof? I'm interested in your Yakima front rack, but I want to install it so that the bar does not go over my moon roof. I'd like to install it between the windshield and the moon roof. A close up picture from behind the front rack would be useful. Thanks.

EDIT: I just measured, the front of the rubber seal for the Moon Roof is 11 1/8 inches from the top of windshield glass. I'd want to mount the rack far enough forward so that I can't see the cross bar from the drivers seat.
