Funny how quickly things can go south...
Got her home last night, and shortly after going to bed she started sleepwalking and babbling nonsense. She's never sleepwalked before so I don't know where this came from. During one episode when I was out of the room for a bit, she fell and smashed her face into the corner of the dresser.
I found her sitting on the edge of the bed, asleep, with huge gash on her forehead clear down to the bone, plus two large cuts on her upper lip. Her mouth was so full of blood I couldn't tell if she'd lost a tooth or something. I had to quickly get dressed and throw some things together, and then got her into the 4Runner for the trip to the ER, all the while she's sleepily protesting that nothing's wrong and she doesn't need to go to the hospital.
We were in the ER until about 8 a.m. this morning, then they readmitted her into the hospital. She's staying at least through tonight. We need to find out what caused this and make sure it doesn't happen again. Complicating matters is the fact that she's severely bipolar, and has a few other health issues as well.
On top of everything else, by 6:30 a.m. the stress and lack of sleep must have caught up with me, because I suddenly got really dizzy, then blacked out. Woke on on a gurney hooked up to a monitor, with people asking me all the usual questions: "Can you tell us your name? What's your date of birth? Do you have a history of fainting? Are you diabetic?" etc. Very embarrassing.
It's been a long, long, day.
