What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Installed my Rago system. Did it in bare metal and just clear coated over it like a billion times. Really like it, very solid. Wish I had bought both sides now. Ah well...

Also got around to installing my Expedition One sliders. Painted in Rustoleum Texture to match the Gobi rack.

Hi everyone,

Long story short, IM BACK! I put a deposit down on a 2016 Trail Edition today, and trading in my 2013 Sequoia. Basically because my commute got a bunch longer, but I need something for the rough New England winters, and handle the tasks of a landlord.

I was a member of the board for a few years, with my 2003 and 2008 4Runners with builds, mods and coming here for help. I'm happy to be returning. Ive missed this place.

Out with the old TRED 800's and made new mounting brackets for the TRED Pro's. FYI, the TRED 800 and Pro have different mounting patterns.

Popped in the Carista OBDII and got rid of my seat belt chimes, auto door locks, and customized a couple light features.

Love this thing already:reddance:

Well I'm currently working on removing my bumper so I can try installing brackets I purchase from Lowe's on my light bar. Figured I'd give these cheap concrete steel angles a chance before I bought high quality brackets.
9:23PM on a work night. Tomorrow is going to be such a productive day at work..

PS. Yes, that's Super Troopers playing on my laptop. Beerfest is up next depending on how long I take.

Brought my wife home from the hospital today! Yay! She'd been there since having surgery last Tuesday.

Funny how quickly things can go south...

Got her home last night, and shortly after going to bed she started sleepwalking and babbling nonsense. She's never sleepwalked before so I don't know where this came from. During one episode when I was out of the room for a bit, she fell and smashed her face into the corner of the dresser.

I found her sitting on the edge of the bed, asleep, with huge gash on her forehead clear down to the bone, plus two large cuts on her upper lip. Her mouth was so full of blood I couldn't tell if she'd lost a tooth or something. I had to quickly get dressed and throw some things together, and then got her into the 4Runner for the trip to the ER, all the while she's sleepily protesting that nothing's wrong and she doesn't need to go to the hospital.

We were in the ER until about 8 a.m. this morning, then they readmitted her into the hospital. She's staying at least through tonight. We need to find out what caused this and make sure it doesn't happen again. Complicating matters is the fact that she's severely bipolar, and has a few other health issues as well.

On top of everything else, by 6:30 a.m. the stress and lack of sleep must have caught up with me, because I suddenly got really dizzy, then blacked out. Woke on on a gurney hooked up to a monitor, with people asking me all the usual questions: "Can you tell us your name? What's your date of birth? Do you have a history of fainting? Are you diabetic?" etc. Very embarrassing.

It's been a long, long, day.

Holy crap man. Sending good vibes down your way. Hope everything gets sorted with your wife.

How did texturing the Gobi and sliders go? I'm considering doing the same thing to prevent rusting.

Yeah man. I checked out the Boch one, and the 2017 TRD Off Road that's in Manchester NH that only has 8500 on the ODO. They were a bit sketchy with pricing (window read $39,999, mirror tag read $37,999, online price was $34,999) and the sales guy wouldnt be straight, so i said screw em. Im not a fan of the dark gray anyways.

Here are some pictures from my light bar mount install last night. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'll see how it holds up on trails. Also, I don't recall seeing anyone who drives with their grill removed. I took mine off just to see how it would look and I actually like it. The light bar would be more effective since it wouldn't be blocked by the grill. Am I just a weirdo? The only negative thing I can think of is that debris or rain/mud would get in easier since there's no longer anything to deflect off of. Anyone have thoughts on this?

This is the bracket I used: https://www.lowes.com/pd/USP-2-in-x-9-75-in-Steel-Concrete-Angle/3692044. Overall I spent about $20 since I had to buy some washers and bolts.

Before with my janky zip ties holding the light bar on.

Had to drill holes since I only have a 22" light bar.

Bumper put back on to see how it would look without the grill. I ended up putting the grill back on but if I decided to take it off again, I'd rattle can the brackets so they're less noticable.

Here it is with the grill back on.

Close up of the finished product. Once I've gone on some trails, I'm going to remove my bumper again and check the bolts. I'll also rattle can the brackets black.

Do you have to buy the $20-$30 paid version of the app to actually change the settings for things like door lock on remote click and seat-belt chime delete? Or can you get away with the "included 1 month trial" functionality without having to buy anything besides the Carista device?

Mainly wanting those two features added!

Did you get the unfinished one through that Rago sale recently? I almost pulled the trigger but figured the extra $100 or so for both sides made sense to just buy them finished/ready to install.

So you have to actually purchase it but it says something along the lines of "enjoy your free month trial" and I wonder if I can now just cancel it and not get charged.

However, you can't make any changes until you accept the purchase/trial.

It was easy to cancel the trial through the email apple sent me. I tweaked the 4Runner and Camry before canceling and was not charged.

I did the 1 week trial. When the week was up I canceled the subscription. All the things I changed stayed the same when I canceled it.
