Also got 4 75% tread left Cooper Maxx 255/80r17 tires today for $200. Couldn't pass those up. Ran these on my 4th gen and I loved them.

...about a mile north of Gallatin Gateway off the 191...not exactly the boonies...but ya can see them from here!....LOL!....:drum:

How do you like the LED fogs? I was looking at the same ones a week ago but never pulled the trigger on them as the reviews were a bit questionable
So far so good. Have to be honest here - Don't get much fog where i live, so I was going for color/appearance more than anything. Also, I am not into off-roading, so that use case isn't something I consider either. If I lived in a fog-prone area, I'd probably research a bit more and end up spending more $$$.
But I do like the way these look.

Got the 4R aligned since I installed the new Bilstein 5100 struts and shocks yesterday. I set the front on the +0.8" setting to level it up. As you can see from the before and after marks I gained about 1.125" on driver side and 1.25" on the passenger side. The ride is so much better. The original shocks/struts had 130k miles on them. One of the rear shocks was leaking and one of the front struts had the metal dust cover rubbing the cylinder housing.

Nice, I’ve been looking at the Mirimotos a bit too. Was thinking a temporary solution till I have up for these or squadrons.
Slapped on the used set of Cooper Maxx 255/80r17's....with no lift, I'm getting 0 rub which I and the techs at Discount Tire were surprised about. Maybe because it's not 100% thread? Looks to be at about 75% thread. I'm good with it for $200! Lift coming shortly!

Just installed the Bluetooth Pedal Commander... With 4.88's and 35's being on the city setting is already awesome. SPORT +4 launches like a rape ape!!!
The Pedal Commander a better upgrade than the first my 2nd gen Sprint Booster..

Issues, mods and any issues on 2017 SR5
Hi guys, I don't know if this is the right place for this question, but here goes. I have been lurking around here and haven't posted much, if at all. I took my VW tdi scandal money and bought a new 2017 SR5 4Runner. The 4Runner has been on my radar since 1984, but this is the first one for me. I have been reading lots of threads and have learned quite a bit.
One thing is to make sure and exercise the transfer case fairly frequently, so that it will continue working. My question is: Are there any other critical issues that you guys know about that I should be aware of? Are there any critical mods? I was going to start a new thread, but I am such a newby, I haven't posted enough to start a new thread. I am a trained mechanic and am not afraid of working on this vehicle, even though it is still on the 2 year maintenance warranty. Any and all advice is helpful, TIA...Mark

My advice, don't go 10K between oil changes, don't allow the "mechanics" at Toyota to touch your vehicle unless you have no choice. 5K oil changes and do them yourself. I don't personally use the BS procare crap that it came with and they gave me 3 years rather than 2. Other mod that is a good idea IMO is an oil catch can.

Also, get under it, clean it up, paint EVERYTHING other than exhaust of course. Keep an eye out for rust and correct it if you see it. I did a full color pan and frame undercoating and I paint any uncoated surfaces at least twice a year. Don't forget to get inside the frame rails also.

Thanks Chris, this is exactly what I am looking for. I agree with the quality (or lack of) of the mechanics in dealer's shops. I intend to do all of the work myself. I run Mobil one synthetic oil in all of my vehicles and intend to do the same with the 4Runner. I live in Phoenix, where rust is not a big issue, but I certainly go places where it is. I am currently in Kino bay Mexico, where everything rusts. I was out yesterday putting it through its 4X4 paces, very impressive. As a side note, I have a good friend that is perfecting putting 5cyl Mercedes diesel engines in 4Runners. That is what brought them back to the front of my mind when I was looking to spend my VW money. Thanks again...Mark
