What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Interesting. How are the tops of the mounts sealed? Those slots may be difficult to cover.

It looks a lot like how yours is mounted -there is a just a bolt hole as opposed to a slot like in the prinsu (which I hate). The single hole (vs a slot) is easy to seal. On top is a rubber washer, aluminum washer, and then bolt. I'll be swapping the rubber washer out with a red silicone washer.

I think I might put down a good layer of butyl rubber on top of the entire washer/bolt assembly and then cover with a nicely cut piece of either vapor barrier or some form of black plastic to mate to the butyl rubber so that it doesn't get gunked up with dirty and debris.

I've attached a pic of the RA mount and the prinsu for comparison. You can tell the person that installed the prinsu in the pic used a butt-load of silicone.

Ordered a steel front and got it last weekend

The full set or just the engine? :/ perhaps I should get an order status from them.

Hmm although I'm not sure a helicoil would work. The metal probably wouldn't be thick enough to support a helicoil. I'm guessing the more threads that are ingrained into the metal the stronger it would hold and that crossmember is likely 1/8" steel. When the oem weldnut broke I basically had to cut the bolt and fish it out one of the holes. The other thing that could work is a sticknut like many sliders use to mount to the frame.

A rivnut isn't as strong but it would at least pinch up against the frame. I was a little concerned about the strength of the brass rivnuts that come with most kits or ones that could be bought on amazon so I bought some rivnuts from a local dodge dealership for Mopar sidesteps used RAM 1500's. At least I knew they'd be automotive grade and a little more heavy duty which they look the part.

Oh good point. Didn’t really consider the lack of material. Seems like you came up with a decent solution.

Wonder if you ran a bolt into the buggered threads cut off the end and put a decent weld on it if you could then drill it and put inserts? Suppose I’ll read around and see what others have done as it will prob happen to me at some point. I really do try to avoid risky lines tho as this is a daily. Went a little crazy when the truck was stock/new and went down all kinds of trails (hence me having to replace a crossmemeber ha).

I think someone has re-welded some nuts on from another (long lost) thread but it's a damn tight squeeze in that space and tbh I have zero welding skills lol. I guess if you blew out more weldnuts at least you can continue to buy the crossmembers. Also it was a buddy of mine who smashed the skids and broke the weldnuts on Black Bear Pass. He wasn't taking bad lines per-se but he certainly didn't take his time to gently go over the obstacles. I guess that's what happens when you let someone else drive :D

Installed RokBlokz XL mud flaps. Love them. Super easy install, great coverage on sides, not flappy flappy. But the biggest bonus is no more rubbing at full lock in front since they cut away around the body mount.

Here ya go

Installed the Inno fairing on my LFD crossbars. It works great to cut the wind noise and I can still fit my Skybox without having to remove it or use an extra crossbar.

Installed these net pockets off of eBay by the front seats. Been useful for random papers and wife’s random stuff.

Those actually look really good! Any way to get rid of the logo?

Also, are you running spacers or is that the offset on your wheels (and what wheels are they? They look sweet!)?

edit: found them! RAY 10 – Stealth Custom Series™

Yeah I hear ya on the logo. I order gray, but it is much lighter than I thought. You can get a black logo which would be as subtle as it gets.

I removed Rally Armor flaps, they were not very good. The main issue is that they use metal brackets that are exposed that are huge ice collectors. Then the ice wraps around them...terrible. Flappy, the rears were 3 parts that also had major ice issues getting between the rubber flaps. Plus...a total pain to install. Then the fronts flaps and brackets went over the body mount causing rubbing even though I am running stock size AT3W tires (32”) which are a large stock tire but still!

The only option I wish they would offer is a small splash guard in front of the rear tires to prevent caking of mud and snow on rails or steps, especially with my added offset wheels. May have to design my own and cut up the old Rally Armors

We ski a lot, though the 4R is not the best ski car I have owned it is pretty good. Better in super nasty conditions though. But AWD with real snow tires is tough to beat in most cases. So having good flaps is a big deal to me with all that crud. I also hate to be that guy not sporting flaps and cracking windshields behind me. Been on the receiving end of that to many times.

Yup Ray’s 10, 8.5 wide version

I agree with you about the 5th Gen 4R needing a splash guard in front of the rear wheels. Something that will stay put, not contact the rear tire at highway speeds, and won’t flap against your sliders or steps.

I’d be interested in any solution you devise. Thx.

I sent them an email....Hopefully they can sell a set.

Absolutely. The company is RA Motorsports.

Element - RA Motorsports

I loaded some pics of the mount with their neoprene gasket. I figured some butyl rubber on either side of the gasket, all around, wouldn't hurt. Just snug up the mounts until the neoprene starts to compress much like you did the silicone gaskets and call it a day.
