ford is at the dealer getting an upper oil pan leak fixed...so using the toyota to haul my 18' tandem axle hybrid dump trailer. stopping with no brake controller, and backing up is interesting as the trailer is the max width allowable. otherwise not too bad, toytec HD springs are definitely helping. the 1k lb Walker mower sits on the axles so tongue weight isnt terrible.

This past weekend. Picked up rock sliders from caliraised off-road. Clean and prep sliders, primer, bedliner spray then install over the course of three days.

Rustoleum Bedliner Spray? Doesn't go far, used two cans on my new bumper yesterday and just barely got one coat done. Picked up two more for a second coat today, but really happy with the result.

Swapped from Slee to SDHQ billet terminals. Since both are taller, you have to turn them slightly so the cables aren't stretched out. The Slee are good but they are just too long for the standard battery.

Bonus content: I got a no start condition after I did the work so I swapped back to the Slee terminals only to still have a no start condition. I checked voltage, ground, cables for damage, jumped it from my battery pack and from my other car but nothing. I saw my mistake and took a picture. If you find it, I'll give you an internet high five.

been thinking about SDHQ. the one thing I don't like about them is the positive terminal isn't completely covered like it is with OEM. I'm not sure how I feel about that. had the SDHQ website open for a couple weeks because I've been undecided on these terminals. would definitely help keep things a bit cleaner. do you like them?

I wouldn't worry about open terminals so long as you don't have anything loose in the engine bay. So far they are good and doing their job. I have an OEM Audio system that requires it's own power so this cleans that up. The Slee were fine but were just too big. Now I need a battery because it has been slow starting.

ok thanks. Ya I would imagine they are pretty good. SDHQ makes good stuff. I almost bought their ditch light brackets and air compressor tray. good customer service but their stuff is expensive for anyone outside USA. I might have to make these terminals a pre winter project

I did use Rustoeleum bedliner spray, orginally had two cans and definitely wasn't enough, bought three more and only used two cans for the second coat and the third for touch up later. I like how it came out and happy with the results also.

yo --- just so you know the new OEM LED headlights are super bright. they seem to bother people approaching in an opposite direction and as you creep up on cars and pass them on the highway.
just a heads up
yes they are bright, but seem to blind other drivers

Funny thing about that...I typically rent cars when I travel out of town (unless its too far and I fly).....and my last car happened to be a new 4runner limited with led lights...It sat right beside my 20 4r the entire weekend at home.....cant say that it did not cross mind to swap them out..lol. I would NEVER do such a thing as karma is a *****. But i did think about it.

I used to work for Enterprise. People used to try some crazy stuff. Heard lots of stories about people wanting to rent certain makes and models and swap wheels/tires and stuff. It's one of the reasons we were trained to say no to guaranteeing a certain car. However, if it happens they would never ever ever know. Enterprise clones aren't car people.

Installed a very sturdy mount for my cell phone. The original plan was for one of those dash mounts that have several attachment points, but I really didn’t need that, wanted to preserve my retro-digital clock, and prefer the cleaner dash look. My Midland MTX575 GMRS radio is mounted under the seat, with the microphone input moved to the lower right dash blank, using an extension. The mic is mounted to a Proclip console mount.

I was inspired by this post, but modified it for my needs. 5th Gen 4Runner DIY Phone Mount - DIY iPhone Phone Mount

Total cost about $100 included the RAM mounts components, the Course Motorsports Magsafe mount, and a 6’ (when fully extended) coiled USB power cord, which is actually compatible with Apple CarPlay (many are not).

I removed the radio bezel, drilled a single hole, then fed the t-bolt from the RAM base from the inside out. Screwed on the base with its included rubber washer, then added the short arm, ball adapter, and Magsafe mount. It took about 30 minutes to do.

The result sits at a perfect viewing level, with good adjustability as needed. I can use FaceID to unlock without issue. It’s low profile, looks great, and doesn’t shake the phone or cause any issues. I’m happy with the result.

Did the Diode Dynamics Tail as Turn + backup light upgrade. I got the HP48 bulbs. Hope I don't regret that, but we'll see tonight. $120 was pricey enough I felt. Nice little setup tho and super easy to install. I had just Sylvania LEDs in the usual spots and they were marginal at best. Now that it's dark so early it was finally time to upgrade.
