Replace every 50K miles. I had oil leaks (valve cover and VTEC Solenoid) on my 2.4L Honda that would not go away despite replacing seals. It took replacing the PCV valve at 156K and redoing the seals again for the leaks to finally stop. Cheap insurance given a new PCV valve is like $5.

Been driving my wife’s 2014 to do some fly fishing around the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. Yesterday rolled past 361K and the truck has been averaging 20.0 mpg at highway speeds of 60 to 70, this after cleaning the throttle body and installing a set of new plugs. Prior to this we were seeing 16, even high 15s. Also the Blue Devil Rear Main Seal Stop Leak seems to have done the job and stopped the leak.

FWIW I did not change PCV on our 2014 SR5 until about 330K miles, but the experience with the Honda prompted me to replace it. The PCV valves by Beck Arnley are like $5 on RockAuto and they do the job just fine. Just the rattle alone does not confirm whether it’s working. The one I took out of the Honda still rattled, though not like the new one. Replacing them is cheap prevention against oil leaks. Some say replace every 30K, but I’m good with 50K.

I had AT3Ws installed, never could balance them properly on the daily commute, not even at Toyota. So I lived with it. Recently damaged two tires beyond repair. Got the AT4Ws because Falken discontinued the AT3W. Same issues with balancing. I did not want to live with it anymore. Started looking for a temporary less aggressive tire. The BFG Trail Terrain fit the bill. No balancing issues what-so-ever at any speed. 11 pounds lighter than the AT4Ws, looks somewhat aggressive, 3PMS rating and I can still hit some easy trails here in Oregon and Washington. My 4Runner lost 55 pounds, including the spare and improved MPG from 16.5 to 19 on the highway. I think this will be a good tire for now.
Also, what the hell is up with all of these ads. haven't been here in a while....I feel like I'm on a malware honey-pot site. Most of them are just disturbing.

Not today, but on Sunday...
ive been chasing this terrible rumbling/rattling/vibrating sound from undernieth my 2014. I knew it was heat-shielding but i just couldnt tell where it was coming from. i had gotten under there, into the wheel wells, inside the engine bay, and on and on and on. I saw another vid by a member and started to investigate maybe a loose skid plate. nope
then the seas parted and...BOOM
this bulbous looking heatshielding on the drivers side up behind the frame wall had come apart. it looked like the armor plating you'd put on a gratefruit if it needed to go into battle as one of King Arthur's knights. Two screws, some safety wiring for good measure...
and now my T4R drives, and more importantly sounds, like its brand new...and now im back to driving around with all FIVE windows down, with the breeze across my bald head.

Changed front and rear differential oil plus transfer case oil on the 2023 at just shy of 30K miles.

Can you provide pics of what you did? Got the same rattle on our 2014 and I’ve traced it to the heat shield on the driver’s side.

That’s terrible. I thought you found some feral cats?Removed the air filter today to blow it off. When I went to replace it, I found about 2# of dog kibble in the air box. #@$%&*^^!!! mice ...

this isnt my truck, but looking at this photo, the right side of the mid-skid plate, the small pumpkin that i have circled is clamped down on both sides by two pilot-screw holes. apparently mine had come loose or rusted and broken off. as it warmed, the rattle became almost scary to folks around my truck on sidewalks and such. i have since clamped them back down with new screws and safety wire...and the rattle is gone
ive found that 4Runners are full of tinny heat shielding all over, inside, and underneith the truck. when they loosen, it sounds like the truck is falling apart. remove ore reconnect them, and all is right with the world again. this is my second or third heatshild to come off. my truck is a 2014 with 170,000 miles

Yeah, but they've all been either picked off by coyotes or have found accommodations elsewhere (I know that three have moved to a neighbor a mile away back in March). Now and then one shows up on my trail camera.
This cat caught yesterday morning, the first time in six days.
I've stopped putting food out a couple months ago, got tired of feeding the mice and kangaroo rats and an occasional cat. I do keep a heated 1.5 gallon bowl of water on the porch, which the cat does use when he shows; otherwise my three laying hens use it daily.
I think it's an old stash. I installed the filter 7,000 miles ago in December, 2022 and I think it's the first time I blew it off. It probably was put there before I install the ultrasonic device and started putting dryer sheets under the hood both early this year. I've not seen the mouse on the trail camera since removing the food. I removed the cabin air filter and all was clean. So since there is no new food and with the constant noise, I think the mice have moved elsewhere.

A couple of days ago, I had RR5-S wheels from Relations Race Wheels installed.
Finally. These are never in stock and grabbed them as soon as the pre-orders started again.
Also had BFG Trail Terrains installed. Replaced Wildpeak AT3W's that no one, not even Toyota could balance properly. It was an infuriating year with the Wildpeak's but I won't get into any of that.

I was going to suggest the ultrasound device. Let us know how that works. Maybe it’s time for a coyote pup that becomes a pet. I haven't had mice problems in a long time. I had a few meeses when we first moved in about 10 years ago. But no more. I do see a few neighborhood cats hunting for them on my Nest video.
Hope the ultrasound device works for you. Not sure how true it is, but I've heard that they get used to the sound and come back.
Picked up a 2018 trd pro premium in Littlefield Texas on vacation, it was time to trade in my ladies 2014 Hyundai and the cost on t4r’s down in the area was very enticing so she went for it and was happy to get out of the Tucson. It already had a artec bumper, toytec coil over lift, some nfab steps. Once we are back in WA I gotta do the transmission and case fluids, differentials and spark plugs but the CarFax was showing good care from the 2 prior owners. My last 2012 was a good daily for me but I sold it about 5 years ago so getting the pro was a real treat, anyway glad to be back in a 4runner!

Nice, but that is not a TRD Pro. That is a TRD Off Road Premium. I hope you didn’t pay for a TRD pro, because you didn’t get one. I also have an off road premium. It has been a great vehicle so far.
