Changed the rear diff oil for Mobile 1 Synthetic... the drain plug magnet was FULL of metal and that oil smells like $***! Transfer and front diff this weekend... transmission maybe too, but I kinda think I'm willing to pay a good shop to deal with that 16 quarts of messy oil!

Last night my buddy and I took my rear locker actuator apart to find that there was nothing wrong with it. Actually, it was clean inside with minimal corrosion and the grease was still fresh!!! This is from a 3rd gen with over 460k km's on it.

This evening we(he) found that it was a wiring issue, found where the fault was and fixed it. Greatful I have friends that know cars and electrical!

Did a garage alignment. Got it completely in spec with a tape measure and string. I was at -0.8˚ camber on the front pass. and -.45˚ camber on the front driver. Got them both within .06˚ of 0 and thats completely in spec. I assumed the caster was somewhat in the ball park range and adjusted it to stay where it was. To me the caster is not nearly as important as far as tire wear goes.

this job is Way too easy actually. I got this thing aligned about 7 weeks ago at a shop and it was visually obvious that it was way out of spec after some weeks of abuse. Used the FSM and some thought and got it real close.

Took a pic of a mine next to a stock 97...not a "huge" difference, but I like it. I see this one on campus all the time, and a spot next to it finally opened up yesterday.

More details on this please!!!! I had plans to get an alignment after I did the tie rod on mine.... but might try to do this myself.... if you could give me more details about how you measured that out!!!?? :)

I installed some wheels/tires on the Surf to basically hold it up and move it in and out of the garage as I want to keep my Bridgestone wheels and Duratracs, I scored some chevy pickup wheels real cheap and some garbage tires, got them mounted, and went to throw them on the truck. Found the center bore was way smaller on the chevy wheels, so I basically just clamped them on the rears with the lugnuts, but the fronts wouldn't go on far enough to expose any threads. So we "clearanced" them with the angle grinder, lol!

I guess I didn't do it by myself, it took the help of a crumbling overpass to put a chunk of concrete on the highway that I then ran over... thankfully I bought the free tire replacement insurance!
