Finally got an LED in to replace my glovebox bulb. Tricky thing to get out, but third time was the charm.

I didn't even know there was a light in the glove box. You learn something new every day.

Got all retro

Went all retro on my brake system. LOL. 76 Blazer MC with a 1 1/8 piston. Waiting on parts from summit auto to bleed the system. Had to slightly modify mounting holes, thickness of bracket, and make a new push rod for the booster since the stock one couldn't be shortened enough.

I followed this link to remove them Toyota Maintenance: CV Axle Replacement on 3rd Generation 4Runners and Tacomas

And used a Haynes manual for the rebuild. Messy job, but other than one stubborn dust cap, it actually went pretty smooth.

I didn't even know there was a light in the glove box. You learn something new every day.

That means your light has been out as long as mine, if not longer. I had a feeling there was one there, but had to look for it to make sure there was one there.

Have been contemplating wether or not I want to take the time to buff and polish the paint on the car. Decided to to a test with the hood to see if the results are worth it.

Started with a heavy compound and a wool pad, then a lighter polish and soft pad. Even without sealant or wax the results are still pretty good. Probably 90% correction. Got all the swirls and fine scratches out. Still some chips and heavier scratches remaining but they would require wet sanding.

Also touched up my tailgate where it was rusting from rubbing on the tail light guards (now removed). Getting much better with touchup paint. Looks like it never happened. Sanded it down, primered it, then built up some touch up paint on the spot and wet sanded it smooth.

Finally changed out my axles... First time doing it and turned out pretty good.

Installed the Airaid Jr. kit that I got from Jason at Burtman Industries (thanks Jason!). Pretty cake install especially if you have the supercharger in place already. All the hoses are in the right place and no extensions or splices needed.

Really cleans up the passengers side of the engine compartment. Also did the "big hole in the airbox" mod since I had it out. No deckplate at this time.

And cleaned the throttle body as well as I could and blew out the mass air sensor.

Not bad for the remaining daylight after I got home from work. I love daylight savings time!

Oh yea, also adjusted the headlights.

Bought two of these at TSC for 33 bucks total. Figured if I'm going to take my stocker out to Wishbone Ranch this weekend, I better get ready to be pulled out of a situation....

And I took off the chrome strips that were on my fenders when I got the truck and promptly washed it. Dang my paint's dulling out.....

To tell you the truth, I've never really thought anything of it. I can't remember why, but we never thought of using the stock grommet. The hole was drilled years ago, and hasn't caused any issue, and unless I'm missing something, what could be so bad about doing so??

Water won't get in, anymore than it would through the heater vents, or other small cracks and such.....

Again, maybe I'm missing something that you know??

If C.O.B says it's do-able through the grommet, than it must be. He's had his entire truck taken apart at one time or another, so he would know!

I've run all my wire thru that rubber gromet. Using a wire coat hanger to fish it thru works very well and once you do it you'll wonder why you didn't do it earlier.
