What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Went scouting around the local salvage yards today and came across a 2002 Sport Edition. Interior was in perfect shape so I snagged the entire center console including the silver trim on the dash. Got the console part with cup holders swapped out tonight. Going to attempt to swap the dash piece out tomorrow. Its going to be a challenge to see if I can get the updated ECT and Rear Window buttons to work. Does anyone know if this has been done before? Also grabbed the updated steering wheel minus air bag. And an extra oh **** handle.


Going back tomorrow to see if I can find anything else. If anyone wants anything off it let me know. It was a front driver side collision.

Wired for amp and sub and installed a Kenwood Class D 1000w Mono amp and a Audiobahn 12" DVC Sub, no getting her detailed while I'm at work. .

1. Put the final coat of paint on my custom snorkel.
2. Finally installed a set of black altezza tail lights.
3. Rotated my tires.
4. Washed the rig in preparation for the snorkel install.

ah I saw a prototype bumper on YotaTech that looked similar, trying to see what my options are on rear bumpers since I want to swap into a better one.

I love the bumpers. Maybe the best ones I have ever seen on a 4runner.

Oh yea, I cleaned/conditioned the leather. The steering wheel was beyond dirty.

In the process of doing pretty much a full 2002 sport edition dash and console swap. Found a wrecked one at the salvage yard and grabbed everything I could.

Got the new taller center console with cup holders, along with the updated center dash pieces and dashboard trim around the gauges.

I still have to figure out the wiring for the new rear hatch and defog and hazard switches but hopefully it won't be too difficult. I plan on finally starting a build thread soon with more details once I get it all finished.

Was that the only one in the yard? I have been wanting a new shifter trim piece like the one you found. Mine is all worn out.

It was the only one at this yard. We found one other one at another yard, which also was a 2002 sport edition, but the people were extremely rude and their prices were a complete joke so we left. I saw the upper center trim piece around the vents and radio but I don't recall seeing the piece around the shifter. If you are that interested I'm sure I could call back and ask about it though.

Got started on the re-wiring of the 97 switches to fit the new 02 Sport dash. Major help to DirtDawg for all his help. I'm sure I could tackle most of it, but electrical is one thing I'm more afraid of. We got the rear window and ECT working and almost have the defroster. We thought we had the hazards done but it ended up turning the headlights on and off! The diagrams we found ended up being way off. I think that one is going to be a lot more difficult than we were thinking.

Anyone interested in a write up for converting the old dash to the new?
