Made it a little better?....

My $1K 98' 2WD 4-cyl, 5-spd. Been running it as my daily driver for a few years.

Took the plastic and running boards off, dropped the hitch.

Treated it to some Armor-All.

Pulled the clock for "the fix".

Feels lighter already. It'll be a work in progress....I ain't going too crazy with it.

Refilled the windshield wiper fluid! I can finally wipe those pterodactyl-sized mosquitos that we have down here off my windshield.

New AFE Pro-dry S filter and ordered window visors.

1. Put the final coat of paint on my custom snorkel.
2. Finally installed a set of black altezza tail lights.
3. Rotated my tires.
4. Washed the rig in preparation for the snorkel install.

Oh and while I was at the salvage yards over the weekend I picked up some horns out of a lexus. Sounds so much better now and they were a direct swap. Now it doesn't sound like you're getting honked at by a scooter.

A mod I'm planning on going with is an electric fan and removing the fluid coupling/fan connected to the water pump. I've found it on this forum before and I saved the link. I have the 2.7 liter and need all the gumption my four baby squirrels can give me.

Painted my center caps silver to match original wheels. They were peeled, faded, yellowing. Looks tons better.

made and installed my custom drink holders

OK - So - I just got my 98 limited.

So far:
take running boards off
flip tire so white letters are out
new bug deflector
new window vents
new trailer hitch

Still have a 2 1/2" lift to go. Just have to get a spring compressor and some time.

New cup holders.

I searched and searched for a good solution to the cup holder nightmare that these 98's are.

I came up with a solution:

2 metal bathroom cups from Wallymart that I cut down to 2.75" deep.
1" x 1/8" strip of metal

Fashioned the cup holder (small piece) and the brace (larger piece)

tack welded the brace to the holder and fitted the angle. Then the final weld, grind and wire wheel to smooth out.

Attached the cup to the brace and support bracket.

Then paint with Plasti Dipp - black

New head unit
4 alpine speakers - bi-amped
with active kenwood x-over
2 amps - one for hi and one for low
+ 100 watt bazooka sub

Just have to get to installing and cutomizing the door speaker mounts

Also - Ipod direct interface and seconadry interface for my Iphone. With Blue Ant handsfree Bluetooth speaker
I've got a MacAlly windshield mount on the way from Ebay as well. No room for my cup mount one from my f150.

Should sound OK - when it's all done

Sounds like a nice set of plans there man! Peterborough?? Why is it nobody is from my area?? lol!

I met one other guy here locally that had a 3rd Gen, but he was a total goof! lol! He didn't take very good care of it, had some good awful "Sport Edition" decals all over it, and was running 285's on stock wheels and no lift! The darn thing rubbed as soon as he would take a corner!

Anyway, good luck with the mods, and make sure to post some before and after pics of that too! Actually... why not start a build thread??? Most of us have them, and it's a good way to document what you've done to the truck!
