Long time lurker here, but I had to post up what I just got done to my runner today. I know this is just a basic upgrade compared to what a majority of you guys do around here, but this was a few years coming for me. Barely finished college and got a decent job and I was able to afford a little bit of fun.
Here's when I first bought it in December 2009:
Right when I was just about saved up for a little lift kit, wheels and tires, Bambi took a giant sh*t on my dreams and ran out in front of me. Broke my heart. It truly did. Really regretted not having full coverage, but as a poor college student, a good driver, and having never been close to being in an accident before, I thought I was doing myself a favor with going the liability route. Cost me a lot of the money I had saved to fix it.
Luckily my father-in-law wasn't too far of a drive away and being a mechanical genius he helped me fix it for much cheaper than a body shop ever would have. I figured I'd make it a little bit fun and instead of keeping it factory I went all black on the front. Made it look a lot better.
Now that I finally saved up some money again, about a year after the deer incident, I was finally able to do this to it:
I found the FJ rims on Craigslist with some Mickey Thompson ATZ with less than 10,000 miles on them for $600, and I jumped on that the second I saw it. I then got the Revtek 3" spacer kit just to bump it up a bit and add some clearance for the bigger tires, and I got some 1.5" wheel spacers to push the FJ rims out a little bit since they seem to hug the inside of the wheel well more than the stock tires do. Anyways, I love the way it looks and I love how it turned out. It's nothing special compared to a ton of the mods a majority of you guys do on here, but this is what I can afford for now and I love it. Hope you all enjoy!
